Chelsea vs. Newcastle United: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview
Chelsea and Newcastle United will be looking to put poor results in Week 20 behind them when they clash at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
The Blues suffered a humbling 5-3 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur last time out; only the second time in Jose Mourinho’s distinguished managerial career that one of his teams has conceded five goals in a game.
Their record is superb at home, though, and surely they’ll fancy their chances of getting back to winning ways here.

Newcastle After a Double over League Leaders

When these two teams met at St. James’ Park earlier in the season, the Blues were in a wonderful vein of form and talk was prevalent about Mourinho’s men going through the entirety of the season unbeaten.
But a diligent Magpies team toppled Chelsea 2-1 thanks to two goals from Papiss Cisse.

In a blow to Newcastle, Moussa Sissoko may not be available for this one with reports suggesting he could be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain, per Ben Jefferson of the Express.
He has been the Magpies’ standout player this season, and as we can see here courtesy of Squawka Football, his creative influence will be missed if he's omitted:
Since that defeat in the north-east, Chelsea have been efficient and effective, but they have rarely hit the heights that made them look so formidable in the early stages of the campaign.
Those minor concerns coalesced into something a lot more pertinent in their last match at White Hart Lane, however.
Indeed, the Blues were well beaten by their London rivals, and there was an erratic streak about their defending that has rarely been seen under Mourinho.
Harry Kane bullied the Chelsea back four with his irrepressible work rate and clever movement, and that’s surely something stand-in boss John Carver will have drilled into his Newcastle players ahead of this one.

Indeed, it took the Blues a while to get going in their recent FA Cup clash with Watford too, per Neil Ashton of the Daily Mail, although they did eventually emerge as 3-0 victors:
Chelsea have some classy players, however. Eden Hazard is a talent who, despite being on the losing side against Spurs, was at his effervescent best. As noted here by Squawka Football, the prodigious Belgian has been a real menace in the final third so far this campaign:
He’ll surely relish the chance of going up against this Toon defence. Carver will be tasked with making this side a lot more cohesive, and after conceding 15 goals in their last six games, it’s necessary that process begins in earnest at Stamford Bridge if the visitors are to avoid a heavy defeat.

After their worst performance of the season, expect Mourinho to have his players focused ahead of this one.
Typically the Blues respond well to defeats, and when you consider their Premier League record at home—nine wins from nine matches—it’s very difficult to see just how Newcastle are going to get anything out of this one.
In the teams’ last meeting, the north-east club had great success against Chelsea by sitting deep and springing on the break.
It’s the kind of tactic they will surely look to employ once again, but at Stamford Bridge, the relentless pressure the Blues are likely to put them under will be overwhelming.
Newcastle will make it difficult for the league leaders, but Chelsea will have too much for the travelling Toon Army.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle United
