10 Best Golazos from World Football This Weekend

Ryan BaileyDec 28, 2014

Most major leagues on the continent have entered their winter breaks, but there were plenty of golazos from England and the rest of the world this weekend.

The following is a ranking of the best goals from this weekend, which also includes the English Boxing Day fixtures played on Friday. Take a look, enjoy and feel free to leave a comment about your favorite net-busters below...

Jordan Ibe (Derby) vs. Birmingham

1 of 10

Derby scored four excellent unanswered goals against Birmingham on Boxing Day to continue their Championship promotion campaign.

Chris Martin's high-pace free-kick to put the Rams 2-0 up was particularly noteworthy, but the best of the bunch might have been Jordan Ibe's opener in the ninth minute.

The winger, who is on loan from Liverpool, weaved in and out of three defenders before blasting a close-range shot into the roof of the net.

Theo Zidane (Real Madrid Youth) vs. Espanyol Youth

2 of 10

La Liga may be in the midst of a winter break, but Spain's biggest youth sides were still in action over the weekend.

On Sunday, Zinedine Zidane's third son, Theo, featured in a Real Madrid youth bout with Espanyol. The 11-year-old showed a flash of his old man's brilliance to put Los Blancos up 3-0 with a very classy finish.

It's not often that a goal from a player this young makes this ranking, but the surname of this young man means he is certainly someone to keep an eye on. Furthermore, Theo's brothers Eliaz (7), Luca (16) and Enzo (19) are all currently playing in Madrid's youth set-up.

Eden Hazard (Chelsea) vs. Southampton

3 of 10

Southampton managed to limit league leaders Chelsea to just one shot on target during their match at St Marys on Sunday.

Unfortunately for the Saints, that shot resulted in a beautiful goal from Eden Hazard, who managed a brilliant run and finish from a neat Cesc Fabregas assist.

Robinho (Friends of Neymar) vs. Friends of Sao Paulo

4 of 10

Neymar was in his home state of Sao Paulo on Friday to host a charity match featuring a host of past and present legends of the game.

Julio Baptista scored a great goal, but the best strike of the slow-paced match surely came from Robinho, who picked up a pass from Cafu on the edge of the area and displayed some silky skills before firing off a shot.

The crowd were treated to plenty of goalmouth action in a game that finished in an 8-8 draw!

Curtis Tilt (Halesowen Town) vs. Stourbridge

5 of 10

Stourbridge of the seventh-tier Northern Premier League Premier Division hosted Halesowen on Boxing Day, in a game that was recorded for the ages with some charmingly low-budget footage.

The visitors earned a point thanks to an excellent looping strike from Curtis Tilt in the 75th minute.

Who said there's no glamour in non-league football?

Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea) vs. Aston Villa

6 of 10

Aston Villa had the best of the chances and possession in their rain-soaked Boxing Day trip to Swansea, but the Welsh side stole a 1-0 win through yet another superb goal from Gylfi Sigurdsson.

In the 13th minute, the Icelandic star lined up a free-kick around 20 yards from goal and proceeded to curl it beautifully over Brad Guzan—even though the American shot-stopper was guarding that portion of his net.

Fernandinho (Manchester City) vs. Burnley

7 of 10

Manchester City had the opportunity to go within one point of Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table when they welcomed Burnley on Sunday. However, the reigning champions threw away a two-goal lead against the relegation side to earn a 2-2 draw.

City went ahead after 23 minutes through a lovely David Silva finish, but the best goal of the game came from Fernandinho, who blasted in an unstoppable long-range shot off the crossbar 10 minutes later.

Johann Gudmundsson (Charlton) vs. Cardiff

8 of 10

Charlton were destined for a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Cardiff on Boxing Day until Johann Gudmundsson stepped up in the 88th minute to rifle in a superb equaliser.

The Icelandic midfielder won the ball with a brilliant sliding tackle and proceeded to drive an unstoppable shot into the net from around 30 yards.

Charlee Adams (Lincoln) vs. Grimsby

9 of 10

Lincoln City stormed to a 3-1 win over Lincolnshire rivals Grimsby Town on Sunday, thanks in part to a stunning strike from Charlee Adams.

That's not the similarly named Stoke midfielder but Lincoln City's 19-year-old starlet who blasted in a screamer to equalise for the visitors two minutes before the half-time break.

Stephen Mallan (St Mirren) vs. Dundee

10 of 10

St Mirren lifted themselves off of the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table with a 3-1 win at Dundee on Saturday. The visitors took a 2-0 lead in the 68th minute through one of the best goals Scottish football—or any other kind of football—is likely to see this season.

Eighteen-year-old midfielder Stephen Mallan won the ball in his own half and proceeded to evade several challenges before launching a curling shot into the net from around 20 yards.

It was Mallan's first goal in senior football.
