America vs. Tigres UANL: Date, Live Stream for 2014 Liga MX Apertura Final

James DudkoDec 13, 2014

The Liga MX season will reach its conclusion at the Estadio Azteca. That's where America will attempt to reverse a single-goal first-leg deficit in the 2014 Apertura final.

But that won't be easy against a defensively solid and resolute Tigres team that stunned its illustrious foe in the first meeting. It took a Joffre Guerron goal to settle things.

To turn things around, America will need EL Tri international Oribe Peralta to be back to his prolific best. Peralta's cause would be aided by a return to form for creative attacking midfielder Rubens Sambueza.

Meanwhile, Tigres' left winger Damian Alvarez will hope to build on an impressive first-leg performance, one capped by the assist for Guerron's goal.

Before a closer preview, here are all of the relevant schedule and viewing details:

Date: Sunday, December 14 2014.

Live Stream: Univision Deportes USA.

America must show more creativity in the second leg. Peralta was denied the sort of service his instincts in the box require to make the difference.

Perlata needs to do more in the second leg. But he'll also need better support.

The 30-year-old was also subjected to some rough treatment from the UANL defence. Latin Times writer Michael Duarte detailed Tigres' robust approach:

"

Peralta was stymied by Tigres de la UANL defense throughout the match and was unable to get off a single shot while committing four fouls and being booked with a yellow card in the 28th minute. Referee Roberto Garcia Orozco was quick to blow the whistle throughout the match placing nine different players in his naughty book with yellow cards.

"

Perlata should expect more of the same at the Azteca. UANL now has a lead to protect, something that is sure to encourage even more ruthless pragmatism from manager Ricardo Ferretti's men.

Ferretti won't hesitate to play a defensive, spoiling game.

Breaking down that kind of stubborn resistance will demand more guile and fluidity from America. That means Sambueza must be back to his best.

The mercurial schemer has been blighted by injury and failed to positively influence the first leg late on, according to Goal.com writer Tom Marshall:

"

America’s biggest problem was going forward and making chances. There was no real cohesion. Oribe Peralta and Luis Gabriel Rey had very little impact and the absence of creative fulcrum Rubens Sambueza – who has been out injured - was more evident than ever, even if he did come on late in the game to try to inject some much-needed urgency.

"

At this best, Sambueza is a player who can cleverly thread passes through defensive gaps. The America forward line will need that sort of supply to make its talent count.

If this game descends into a scrappy affair, the way the first leg did, it will suit UANL. America must look to dominate the ball and encourage quick, pass-and-move football. That will be the only way to break down the stingy Tigres rearguard.

Predicted Final Score: America 2-0 Tigres

UANL's players haven't experienced defeat in 14 matches. But that stellar run will come to an end at the Azteca.

With the championship trophy at stake, America will tap back into its forward-thinking verve. That will be enough to claim a nervy aggregate win.
