2015 College Football Recruits Whose Stock Has Risen the Most Since August

Sanjay KirpalaniDec 2, 2014

With the recent trend of the recruiting process being accelerated earlier for a number of top prospects, few players enter their final prep season with the chance to make an impression on colleges.

However, the 2015 class has had a handful of players emerge since August.

Some players have gained a buzz because of swelling offer sheets, while others have produced standout numbers on the field.

Which 2015 recruits have raised their stock the most since the beginning of the season?

Offensive Skill

When 4-star quarterback Sam Darnold committed to USC in July, he did so despite playing in only 12 high school games and having just seven touchdown passes in his career.

His rating was based mainly on his potential, and the 6’4”, 208-pounder has more than validated that belief by throwing for 2,641 yards and 37 touchdowns this season, according to MaxPreps

Similar to Darnold, 4-star passer and current Notre Dame pledge Brandon Wimbush elevated himself as one of the nation’s top quarterbacks despite limited experience heading into his final prep campaign.

Wimbush has thrown for 1,785 yards, 22 touchdowns and only one interception while leading his team to a 10-1 record, per MaxPreps.

A pair of skill players who have caught the attention of college coaches since the season started are 3-star receiver Lawrence Cager and 3-star athlete Javarius Davis.

Cager has picked up six offers since the beginning of the season from the likes of Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Miami, South Carolina and Nebraska.

Meanwhile, Davis earned a trio of offers from powers such as Oregon, Miami and Georgia following his decommitment from North Carolina.

Linemen

One of the more intriguing recruits in the 2015 class is 4-star offensive lineman Chidi Valentine-Okeke

The 6’6”, 305-pounder was originally in the 2016 class, but he was reclassified after an offseason transfer took him from the South Florida area to Georgia. Valentine-Okeke has powers such as Georgia, Auburn, Alabama and Florida State battling to land one of the instant risers in the 2015 cycle.

Along the defensive line, among the hottest prospects are 4-star defensive tackle Raequan Williams, 4-star defensive tackle Neville Gallimore and 3-star defensive end Rashod Berry.

The 6’4”, 280-pound Williams has picked up offers from Oregon and Michigan State during the season. Berry picked up tenders from the Spartans and Ohio State in October before accepting Urban Meyer’s offer.

As Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports notes, Gallimore is the first player from Canada to ever earn an invite to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The 6’3”, 300-pounder is being pursued by the likes of Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Oregon.

Another position that has seen a few late bloomers emerge is at corner.

Texas 3-star Nate Dalton was unranked before the season started, but since August, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kentucky have offered the 6’3”, 195-pounder.

Similar to Dalton is California 3-star corner Colin Samuel. The 6’2.5”, 186-pounder earned offers from Purdue, Michigan, Oklahoma, Washington State, UCLA and Mississippi State during a one-week period last month.

Finally, 3-star Maryland native Juwuan Briscoe has become a hot commodity following his decommitment from Clemson. The 6’0”, 182-pounder has picked up offers from Florida, Indiana, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Penn State since the beginning of the season.

All three players fit the mold of bigger corners that most schools are coveting, which likely means that the surge of interest for them is still in the beginning stages.
