College Football Rankings 2014: Week 15 Standings and Top 25 Team Records

Rob GoldbergDec 2, 2014

All the debates and arguments for the College Football Playoff will end after one more week of action.

Well, there will still be plenty of yelling and screaming, but nothing can be done to change the mind of the committee after Week 15. The conference title games and the remainder of the Big 12 regular season will help decide which are truly the best four teams in the country.

While the top squads will be doing their best to avoid a disastrous loss, they also will work toward style points to prove themselves one last time. This could lead to some blowouts, but no matter what, it will certainly be exciting.

Here is a look at the latest rankings to help you follow all the action heading into Week 15.

Week 15 Marquee Matchup

Arizona vs. Oregon

The week features a number of interesting games for plenty of different reasons.

Alabama will try to hold onto the top spot in the rankings by defeating Missouri in the SEC Championship Game. Florida State will attempt to remain undefeated with a tough matchup against Georgia Tech. Baylor will also try to prove it's the best team in the Big 12 by blowing out Kansas State.

Meanwhile, Ohio State has a unique situation of proving it can be as dominant as it has been without starting quarterback J.T. Barrett.

Still, the best game of the weekend will be Friday's Pac-12 Championship Game between Oregon and Arizona.

The Ducks have looked great for much of the season, but a loss to Arizona is the only blemish on an otherwise flawless 2014. As College GameDay notes, they have really struggled lately in this matchup:

Despite the revenge factor, Oregon coach Mark Helfrich believes there are few similarities between the two games. He explained after the latest win over Oregon State, via Andrew Greif of The Oregonian:

"

It's a different game now than it was in the middle of the season. That's the thing about college football, it's so different, your team is so different almost on a weekly basis and certainly this many months literally removed from that game we're different, they're different, so it's a different situation.

"

Oregon has certainly looked the part of a champion since the October loss, winning seven in a row while scoring at least 40 points in each contest. Marcus Mariota is putting up Heisman-level numbers to lead a balanced offensive attack that ranks in the top 25 in the country in both rushing and passing.

That being said, Arizona has shown the ability to slow down top offenses with a strong front seven led by linebacker Scooby Wright. As Stewart Mandel of Fox Sports and Ralph Russo of The Associated Press seem to agree, the sophomore is truly one of the best players in the nation at his position:

If the Wildcats can slow down the Oregon attack, quarterback Anu Solomon and running back Nick Wilson can take care of the rest with some strong performances on the offensive end.

At the very least, this game on a neutral field will be much closer than the 13.5-point line would indicate, according to Odds Shark.

Unfortunately for the underdogs, Oregon simply has too much talent offensively to stop a second time. With the offensive line playing better while Mariota and Royce Freeman move down the field with ease, the Ducks should be able to win a high-scoring battle.

Prediction: Oregon 48, Arizona 41
