Disgraced former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay was given a second chance by Wigan, as he was announced and unveiled as the new boss on Wednesday, per BBC Sport

Considering he's been in the spotlight for a myriad of bad reasons, the timing for his return to football seemed odd, as he's still under investigation by the FA.

Star Sport alluded to the fact that his appointment could be temporary, and that Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge had another injury setback and will likely be out for another six weeks. It also reports that Gareth Southgate's been given the green light on certain U21 English stars, which could turn controversial long-term.
