Di Maria Expects to Face Arsenal

United continue to await X-ray results on Di Maria's foot, but the former Real Madrid star is convinced he'll be fine to travel to Arsenal on Saturday. He told Argentinian newspaper Ole, via 101 Great Goals:

"

I’m fine, it was just a knock. I hope there will not be too much swelling and will play on the weekend. There was a cut, the doctor did not want me to carry on but I said I would play a few minutes and then leave.

Di Maria Sent for X-Rays on Foot

As shared by The Guardian's Jamie Jackson, Argentina manager Gerardo Martino confirmed Angel di Maria was sent for X-rays after he collided with Nani during Tuesday's friendly with Portugal:

He also didn't believe the injury was anything serious:

The player himself is hopeful he'll be fit to face Arsenal during the weekend, via Sport Witness:

This fan shared footage of the dangerous challenge, which for a minute looked to have knocked the Red Devil out of the match:

Nani moved from United to Lisbon during the summer on a loan deal, surplus to requirements following the acquisition of Di Maria. It didn't take long for some to suggest it was no coincidence, like the Football Blog Awards:

Di Maria looked excellent early in the match, linking up well with Lionel Messi, and he appeared to be pain-free minutes after the challenge.

Fans of the Red Devils would riot if someone on the club's payroll injured the Argentine star, but while some caution is needed before the results of the X-rays are confirmed, it looks like United may have just dodged a major bullet.
