NFL Power Rankings Week 11: Latest 2014 Standings and Reaction for All 32 Teams

Sean ODonnellNov 11, 2014

The majority of the NFL's Week 10 contests resulted in performances and conclusions that were mostly expected—good players came through and the better teams won. However, there were some games that severely shifted the league's power rankings due to unforeseen results or significant injuries to key players.

So, where does your team stack up against the rest?

To establish the league's hierarchy, factors such as overall team records, current on-field trends, key injuries and returning players are all brought into consideration. Here's a look at the pecking order as we head into Week 11 of the 2014 NFL season.

32. Oakland Raiders

The Raiders kept things respectable through the first half of action against the Denver Broncos in Week 10, but after Peyton Manning unloaded in the third quarter, Oakland remains winless. This team will remain in the gutter until that elusive victory is captured.

31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay's pass rush was virtually nonexistent once again in Week 10. The team only mustered one sack on Matt Ryan despite a decimated Atlanta Falcons offensive line. The Buccaneers have many holes to fill on both sides of the ball before they will accumulate wins.

30. Jacksonville Jaguars

This team is going to struggle due to an immense amount of youth on offense. Blake Bortles is still trying to overcome interception woes and his young wide receiver corps is inconsistent. Luckily, Denard Robinson continues to shine in the backfield.

29. Tennessee Titans

Zach Mettenberger continued to learn the ways of an NFL quarterback Sunday. The Baltimore Ravens defense didn't take it easy on him, sacking the rookie five times and picking him off once. Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean relayed what head coach Ken Whisenhunt wants to see from his quarterback:

Unfortunately, it will continue to be tough to run this offense without some help from Bishop Sankey out of the backfield.

28. Washington Redskins

Washington was given a week of rest, and quarterback Robert Griffin III has a great chance to earn his first win of the season against the Buccaneers. With a difficult remaining schedule thereafter, he may not get another chance.

27. St. Louis Rams

This team notched some surprising wins this season. However, Austin Davis hasn't been able to recapture his spark at the quarterback position, and the team's running game continues to struggle with rookie Tre Mason receiving the bulk of the workload.

26. Chicago Bears

How bad are the Bears in all phases of the game right now? Jay Cutler is a turnover-prone quarterback, Matt Forte doesn't get enough touches and the team's defense can't stop much of anyone. This team has far too much talent to be 3-6 right now.

25. New York Jets

The Jets won a football game, snapping their eight-game skid. Michael Vick was surprisingly efficient under center, and the team's defense did a nice job containing the red-hot Pittsburgh Steelers offense until the fourth quarter. ESPN's RJ Bell tweeted another big reason for the win:

The victory is nice, but there are still too many question marks surrounding this team.

24. Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta's offense looked better on Sunday, but that was partly due to a terrible Buccaneers defense. Steven Jackson finally showed up, and Ryan had a decent game under center. However, this team is still miles away from contending.

23. Carolina Panthers

Carolina kept it close with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night—and then the first quarter ended. Cam Newton's accuracy is horrible right now, and the team still has no sign of a running game. Factor in a secondary that couldn't keep up with Mark Sanchez, and you get a struggling football team.

22. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings had a bye in Week 10 and are preparing to face a reeling Bears team. Teddy Bridgewater has been playing better of late, and this team has a great chance to move to .500 on the season, keeping it in the mix for a playoff spot.

21. New York Giants

New York put on a nice showing through three quarters in Seattle but couldn't finish out the game. Odell Beckham certainly looks like the real deal, and even Richard Sherman was impressed with the rookie, according to Around The NFL:

Still, this team needs to get tougher on defense and find a viable running game.

20. Houston Texans

The Texans had a week of rest as they prepare to give quarterback Ryan Mallett his first career start in Week 11. This team is in desperate need of solid play from the quarterback position if it is to have any shot of making the playoffs this season.

19. San Diego Chargers

San Diego rode a three-game losing streak into its bye week, and hopefully the team took the time to shore up its defense after giving up a total of 95 points during that span. This is a talented team, but it hasn't been playing up to expectations of late.

18. Baltimore Ravens

It's difficult to trust the Ravens at this point of the season, even after defeating Tennessee. The team's defense rebounded nicely. However, Joe Flacco was less than spectacular and journeyman running back Justin Forsett has become the most reliable part of the offense.

17. Buffalo Bills

The Bills put on a decent showing in their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, their offensive game plan was out of whack. Despite Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown averaging 6.9 and 5.0 yards per rush, respectively, they only received a total of 16 carries. Meanwhile, Kyle Orton passed 48 times and was very inaccurate. Greg A. Bedard of Sports Illustrated tweeted his take:

Something's not right in Buffalo.

16. New Orleans Saints

New Orleans was taken down in its own home in Week 10. However, it wasn't due to any poor performances. Drew Brees, Brandin Cooks, Jimmy Graham and Mark Ingram all played well—even the defense looks improved—but an overtime loss was the unfortunate outcome.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers

After tossing six touchdown passes in two consecutive games, Ben Roethlisberger came back down to Earth in Week 10. ESPN Stats & Info tweeted an interesting statistic:

Making matters worse, Le'Veon Bell averaged only 3.3 yards per carry, and the defense couldn't contain Vick early in the game. The roller-coaster season continues for Pittsburgh.

14. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals looked absolutely terrible on Thursday. This team has a nasty tendency to struggle in prime time, and that was a big example. Still, this team remains in second place in the AFC North. However, a tough road contest against the Saints looms on the horizon.

13. Miami Dolphins

Miami played well on both sides of the ball against a very good Detroit Lions team in Week 10, but a last-second touchdown handed the Dolphins a loss. Still, this team is in great position going forward as Ryan Tannehill looks for his first-career playoff berth.

12. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers finally ran a more balanced offensive attack on Sunday, and it resulted in a win. Frank Gore shouldered a large workload out of the backfield, making up for much of Colin Kaepernick's inconsistency as a passer. This is the formula that will help this team continue to win games.

11. Cleveland Browns

Cleveland may not be the most polished team in the NFL, but it can certainly win games. After defeating Cincinnati, the Browns are first in the AFC North. NFL Philosophy tweeted a very favorable schedule going forward:

They'll look to continue their winning ways against Mallett and the Texans in Week 11.

10. Seattle Seahawks

It's amazing what happens when the Seahawks utilize Marshawn Lynch. The running back accumulated a whopping 140 yards and four touchdowns on 21 carries against the Giants. Perhaps, this time, Pete Carroll will stick to the ground-and-pound game plan.

9. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs continue to ride a strong combination of an efficient quarterback, an effective ground game and a solid defense to a four-game winning streak. This team is looking good on both sides of the ball, and that will be a huge factor come January.

8. Arizona Cardinals

Yes, this is a rather low ranking for a team that has only lost one game this season. But, in all sincerity, the Cardinals offense just isn't the same without Carson Palmer at the helm. The NFL tweeted the bad news:

Drew Stanton can win this team games, but he needs to vastly improve on his season-long 49.5 completion percentage.

7. Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers threw six touchdown passes against the Bears in the first half. That statistic alone warrants a top-10 spot in this week's power rankings. Green Bay's defense is coming along nicely as well, and the Packers are beginning to look very well rounded.

6. Dallas Cowboys

Tony Romo looked fantastic in his return from injury, and the Cowboys offense rolled as a result. The quarterback put up a 138.8 passer rating, and DeMarco Murray reached the century mark once again. Romo's health will dictate the remainder of the season for this franchise.

5. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts were given a great time for a bye, as a contest against the New England Patriots is on the horizon. Andrew Luck is having a banner season, and he's surrounded by a bevy of weapons. There's no denying Indianapolis' talented offense, but its defense must show up in a big way to win in Week 11.

4. Philadelphia Eagles

Things didn't look good for Philadelphia heading into Week 10 with Sanchez under center, but he played a great game on Monday night. He looks very capable of leading this offense, and he's getting some great help from rookie Jordan Matthews. ESPN Stats & Info noted a career first for the quarterback:

The Eagles really need LeSean McCoy to get it going to establish a balanced attack going forward.

3. Denver Broncos

Manning threw five more touchdown passes on Sunday, but that's just another day at the office for him. Denver's offense is rolling, and with C.J. Anderson emerging from the backfield, it looks more dangerous than it has all season.

2. Detroit Lions

The return of Calvin Johnson was huge for this football team. He racked up seven receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins, playing a huge role in Detroit's victory. Chris Wesseling of Around the NFL summed it up perfectly:

With an offense as fierce as its defense, this team is clearly one of the league's best.

1. New England Patriots

The NFL's best team was inactive on Sunday, but its five-game winning streak remains intact. Ever since the Patriots figured out their offensive line issues, quarterback Tom Brady has been electric and the team's offense got right back on track.

A contest against the potent offense of the Colts is next on the slate for New England, and if it can take down Luck and Co., there shouldn't be much of a debate surrounding the NFL's most dominant team remaining.
