Fabregas Returns vs. Everton
Wednesday, Feb. 11
Chelsea announced Fabregas subbed into their game vs. Everton. Chelsea's official Twitter feed reported that Cesc Fabregas is among the subs for the Blues' clash with Everton on Wednesday.
On Feb. 10, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho announced Fabregas will play Wednesday. "Jose confirms Cesc Fabregas will be in the squad to face Everton. 'We coped with the situation but to have him back is important,'" Chelsea announced from Mourinho's press conference today.
On Feb. 9, Simon Johnson of the London Evening Standard provided another statement from Mourinho discussing Fabregas' return and why he did not play last weekend:
"I think Fabregas plays on Wednesday because against Villa the decision was to protect him.
I didn't want to risk two players at the same time because Willian had a minor problem from the previous game and was also risk. So to start two players with a risk was a big gamble. So we gambled with one.
We didn't miss Cesc against Aston Villa because Ramires is back and the best of Ramires is back too. He was great against Liverpool, Manchester City and Aston Villa. He has a different profile of play to Cesc, but he gives a lot.

Fabregas Injures Hamstring vs. Liverpool
Tuesday, Jan. 27
The Spain international joined the Blues during the summer of 2014 and immediately made a huge impact, picking up a nomination for the Player of the Month award, as reported by the Daily Mail's Elliott Bretland.
Orchestrating the Chelsea attack, the 27-year-old's incredible range and passing skills have been pivotal in leading the Blues to the top of the Premier League standings.
Chelsea provided details on the injury from Mourinho:
The Spaniard isn't afraid to play through pain, as Mourinho revealed after the win against Liverpool, per the team's Twitter feed:
The Chelsea boss further praised his midfield maestro in an interview with Chelsea TV, as reported by the Premier League's official website:
"There are not many [players who fill the same role as Fabregas] here because the Premier League needs other qualities too. If you are just that type of intelligent, technical player, but you don't have the quality to compete and win first and second balls, then to be intense is very difficult.
"
Fabregas' injury left the Blues in a bit of a pickle, as there simply are no players capable of replacing the unique combination of skills the Spaniard brings to the table.
His ability to make surging runs forward links up well with Nemanja Matic's natural skills as a defender, and it frees up top wingers like Eden Hazard and focus more on productivity and less on playmaking.
