Luis Suarez to Consume Costa Rica Threat

He will be remembered as one of the most controversial players of his generation, but Luis Suarez is back playing football after embarrassing his country at the World Cup.

No one will be able to forget what they saw Suarez do at the tournament, biting an opponent during Uruguay's clash with Italy.

But in football, incidents always come and go—and Suarez is now looking forward to his career in Spain, nestling next to Lionel Messi and Neymar in a fantasy football Barcelona attack.

Suarez now has a chance to gain some revenge for Uruguay as they once again face Costa Rica, who caused one of the shocks of the World Cup by beating the South Americans.

The player has yet to score for Barcelona since returning from suspension, having now completed 294 minutes without finding the net, per WhoScored.com.

However, Suarez seemed to be finding his best form in Barca's last match, grabbing two assists, per Squawka. This led football journalist Rafael Hernandez to praise the player and his contribution:

And in his return in his country's shirt four weeks ago, Suarez found the back of the net twice in clinical fashion, as his side beat Oman 3-0. Suarez took his international goal count to 43, per The Telegraphshowing why he is so dearly loved by his countrymen.

Despite his heroics for Liverpool last season when the Reds nearly won the Premier League, only falling at the final hurdle, Suarez was surprisingly excluded from this season's list of Ballon D'Or nominees. But it is more of a reflection of his discipline on the pitch than the skill he shows with a ball at his feet.

Suarez is sure to explode into action soon, and the signs look ominous for Costa Rica. They avoided the wrath of the player in Brazil and will feel that helped them win the match last time.

Once again, Suarez must prove himself to be worth the heartache and pain, but invariably his talent always shines through.

Match Preview

SALVADOR, BRAZIL - JULY 05: (L-R) Bryan Ruiz, Marco Urena, Johnny Acosta, Michael Umana, Jose Miguel Cubero, Dave Myrie, Junior Diaz, Celso Borges and Giancarlo Gonzalez of Costa Rica look on in a penalty shootout during the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Qua

Despite the surprise win at the World Cup, it is no surprise to learn Costa Rica do not have a great record against Uruguay in their last five encounters dating back to 2001.

Before their 3-1 World Cup win, Costa Rica had drawn twice and lost twice, per WhoScored.com.

However, the Costa Ricans are still riding a crest of a wave, winning their last match away to South Korea, stunning their hosts 3-1. Two goals from Celso Borges and one from Oscar Duarte sealed the victory.

Once again, they will be underdogs against Uruguay in Montevideo, but in Bryan Ruiz and Joel Campbell they have two potential match winners.

Both players have a touch of genuine magic about them, and in Ruiz they have a wonderful player who can make the impossible seem possible.

Uruguay will be fired up with Suarez in their side and will feel they have the firepower to win the match comfortably. But when giant-killers are in town, even the tallest of opponents can surprisingly fall.
