John Harbaugh Takes Shot at Steelers, Tells CBS Not to Air Comments

Dan CarsonNov 10, 2014

John Harbaugh aimed a kick at the Pittsburgh Steelers' pride Sunday, piling it on after hearing Pittsburgh had lost an ugly one to the lowly New York Jets.

The Ravens coach dropped the remark after his team had beat up on the Tennessee Titans. He made a point of asking the CBS camera crew in the Baltimore locker room not to air the footage.

Harbaugh's request was not honored, however, and CBS ran his comments on the air.

SportsGrid's Eric Goldschein published video and a transcript of the remarks. Harbaugh essentially told his players that while the Steelers might have won last week, they laid a goose egg against a garbage-fire team:

"

That was a tough challenge. We have a team coming off a bye. You had a team in this room off a very physical Sunday night game. You know what I'm saying? Saw what happened on the other part of that, right? Strike that from the record books, ok? Is that NFL? Are you with us or them? Make sure that doesn't get…What I'm about to say doesn't get talked about, ok? That team beat us last week, okay? All right? Then they went and got their [a-s] kicked this week. This team was in the same game and went and got the job done this week. That’s who you are. That’s who you are. Congratulations.

"

CBS decided to air the clip—a move that angered the Ravens. Baltimore team officials released a statement admonishing the network for running remarks that were meant for players and coaches only.

CBS has since pulled the video and apologized for the incident, according to The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson.

"We broadcast a clip during our postgame show that should not have aired," said CBS Sports spokesperson Jennifer Sabatelle. "We immediately pulled it down and called the Baltimore Ravens to apologize."

The 6-4 Ravens defeated the Tennessee Titans 21-7 Sunday. Baltimore faces the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football after its Week 11 bye.
