A Thursday night quarterback duel went in the Chicago Bears' favor on Thursday evening as Caleb Williams led the home team to a 30-24 win over Drake Maye and the New England Patriots.

The Chicago offense excelled on a night when the Bears honored late franchise legend Mike Ditka, who passed away on Oct. 9.

The three-point favorites (per FanDuel Sportsbook) got notable fantasy performances from Williams, wide receiver Luther Burden III, tight end Colton Loveland and running back D'Andre Swift.

New England fought hard but was ultimately a step behind all night. Quarterback Drake Maye, running back Rhamondre Stevenson and tight ends Hunter Henry and Eli Raridon turned in good fantasy performances. It was an off-night for wideout A.J. Brown, though.

The Bears opened the scoring with Cairo Santos' 43-yard field goal in the first quarter. Chicago then followed with running back D'Andre Swift's four-yard touchdown rush. Bears wideout Luther Burden II set the play up with a 58-yard catch-and-run.

New England responded with a 74-yard drive capped by Drake Maye's seven-yard touchdown run by a nose.

Burden continued his dominant display, though, when he caught a quick pass on 3rd-and-17 and scored a 24-yard touchdown with 14 seconds left in the first half.

New England wasn't done, though. After the kickoff, Maye found Brown for 18 yards to get to the Bears' 48-yard line. May then hit Stevenson on a screen pass, and the running back did the rest, scampering for the end zone with no time remaining. Following the PAT, the Bears led 20-14 at half.

The Bears maintained the upper hand, though. They got the ball after halftime and marched down the field thanks largely to Loveland, who caught four passes for 47 yards and a score.

Loveland's touchdown was for 14 yards. He got through four Pats defenders along the way to the end zone.

New England fired right back, going 80 yards in nine plays capped by Maye's 30-yard TD pass to Raridon down the seam.

Chicago and New England went scoreless on the next four possessions, but the Bears then got the ball back on their own nine-yard line with 6:22 left.

It was the Williams show from there, and he had some help from wideout Rome Odunze. Williams hit Odunze for 21 yards on 3rd-and-9 from the Chicago 10-yard line, and he also found him for 21 more yards on 2nd-and-12 to get to midfield.

However, Williams took a sack from defensive tackle Christian Barmore that knocked the Bears back to the Pats' 40-yard line with 1:39 left.

Santos, who missed a 53-yard field goal on the Bears' last possession, then walked onto the field to try a career-long 58-yarder. He nailed it, giving the Bears a crucial two-possession edge.

Pats kicker Andres Borregales nailed a 47-yard field goal on New England's next drive with 37 seconds left. An onside kick followed, but Odunze recovered it. After one kneeldown, the Bears moved to 5-2. The Pats dropped to 4-3.

Both teams hit the road in Week 8. New England will play the Miami Dolphins in an AFC East showdown on Sunday, Nov. 1. Chicago will visit the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, Nov. 2.
