Florida's Fake-Field-Goal Star Bags Groceries the Day After Big Play
Florida's Michael McNeely helped the Gators upset No. 11 Georgia on Saturday, but on Sunday he was back to bagging groceries at Publix.
McNeely scored a 21-yard touchdown on a fake field goal in the second quarter of Saturday's game against the Bulldogs.
The receiver's touchdown made it a 7-7 game, and the Gators would eventually run away with a 38-20 victory.
Imagine making a play of that magnitude and then going to work at a grocery store the next day.
The fifth-year senior was a pretty big deal at work the day after the game. According to ESPN.com's Jeff Barlis, McNeely signed autographs, posed for photos and more as he worked at the grocery store the day after his big moment.
McNeely has worked at Publix since 2008 and says he will continue to work there until he starts medical school next August. It would be hard to imagine that he has ever had a crazier day at work than the one he had Sunday.
Of course, it seems likely that Gators fans will make humorous use of McNeely's position when Florida takes on Jameis Winston (who shoplifted from a Publix in May) and the Florida State Seminoles on Nov. 29.
