Ryan Fitzpatrick, DeAndre Hopkins, Andre Johnson's Post-Week 8 Fantasy Reaction

Rob GoldbergOct 26, 2014

While the Houston Texans showed once again they are clearly a run-first team, there is still some fantasy value in the passing attack.

Here is a look at how Ryan Fitzpatrick and receivers Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins fared in the team's Week 8 win over the Tennessee Titans:

Fitzpatrick was under pressure the entire game and was sacked five times. Despite this, he still came through with a solid effort to help the team win.

Of course, this does not do much for fantasy owners looking for a quarterback who can throw for over 300 yards, something the veteran has not done all season. Unless there is an extremely favorable matchup, there are likely better options at the position even as a bye-week fill-in.

Meanwhile, both Hopkins and Johnson have value as the only consistent options in the passing game. They each received double-digit targets in this one, with Johnson getting more receptions but Hopkins totaling more yards.

Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times joked about the consistent connection between Fitzpatrick and Hopkins:

Although neither player was able to get into the end zone, they each have shown great consistency this season. Johnson has topped 50 yards in seven of eight games while Hopkins has reached this mark six times. This does not create huge fantasy numbers, but both receivers are safe options with the ability of some bigger days ahead.

If you had to choose one player going forward, though, it would have to be Johnson based on his 75 targets compared to just 53 for Hopkins. This could make the veteran receiver a quality buy-low option in fantasy leagues before the trade deadline.
