Giants Pitcher Sergio Romo Involved in Altercation with San Francisco Police
San Francisco Giants pitcher Sergio Romo reportedly had a heated exchange with police officers involving an incident with his girlfriend in the city after the team clinched a berth in the World Series.
According to Phillip Matier and Andrew Ross of The San Francisco Chronicle, Romo's girlfriend was reportedly being held and forced into a vehicle:
"According to police sources, officers were sent to Taylor and Post streets near Union Square about 2 a.m. Friday—hours after the Giants had clinched their World Series berth—to respond to a report that one of the men forcing the woman into the vehicle had her in a bear hug.

The report says the incident started after Romo's girlfriend noticed that he received a message from an ex-girlfriend:
"The cops eventually determined that the two couples had been having a good time on the town when Romo’s girlfriend spotted a text from his ex-girlfriend on his cell phone and became upset.
'Romo and the girlfriend’s brother were trying to calm her down and get her out of Dodge,' one cop told us.
"
One of the officers tried to calm Romo down by saying, "You need to relax," and the Giants pitcher responded by saying the officer doesn't "know how to handle high-pressure situations."
Matier and Ross then wrote that officers initially determined no crime was committed and Romo's girlfriend was okay, but later police "found surveillance-camera footage that showed someone who looks like Romo carrying the distraught girlfriend in a bear hug."
The report concludes by saying that this case "has been sent to special investigations to make sure the two couples’ statements are accurate."
Romo, 31, has pitched in seven games during the Giants' postseason run and is on the World Series roster. During the 2014 playoffs, he's compiled a 1.93 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in 4.2 innings of work, adding three strikeouts. He has four holds in his seven appearances.
The right-hander has spent his entire seven-year career with the franchise, winning two World Series titles in 2010 and 2012.
