Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Holliday, 28, is one of the NFL's most electric return men when healthy. He is known as the only man in NFL history to have a kickoff and punt return for a touchdown in the same game in the NFL postseason, a feat he accomplished in 2012. After two years in Denver, he spent last summer with the New York Giants before getting cut before Week 1.
As Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times illustrates, Holliday's reputation as a big-play threat on special teams is warranted:
Holliday has been somewhat of a hot-ticket item in recent weeks, having worked out with the Chicago Bears, as the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs noted (via Pro Football Talk). The only knock on what he brings to the table is fumble issues and the fact he is exclusively a return man, as opposed to a player who can regularly contribute in a base offense along with his other responsibilities.
Still, it is clear that is what Tampa Bay coach Lovie Smith wants with the move. Receiver Solomon Patton has failed to provide a spark on kick returns, where he averages just 23.1 yards per return, as well as punts, where he averages just 11.2.
Holliday shores up one problem area for the 1-5 Buccaneers if he can stay healthy.
