DeMarco Murray, Lance Dunbar, Joseph Randle's Post-Week 7 Fantasy Reaction

Matt FitzgeraldOct 19, 2014

The Dallas Cowboys entered Week 7 with the NFL's top-ranked rushing attack, thanks largely to the brilliance of a mighty offensive line and a stud running back in DeMarco Murray.

In Sunday's NFC East showdown with the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium, little changed. Lance Dunbar and Joseph Randle played bit parts to spell the Cowboys' featured back, but Murray was on his game yet again.

Murray eclipsed the 100-yard mark in the beginning of the fourth quarter, making considerable history in the process, per ESPN's Numbers Never Lie:

A mild injury concern threatened to derail Murray's promising afternoon, as reported by Ed Werder of ESPN:

That was quickly put to rest, though, as Murray returned to the game not long after leaving the field, with his hurt ankle taped.

So no matter who the opponent is, those fantasy owners who have Murray ought to play him every single week. The man is showing no signs of slowing down, is a capable receiver out of the backfield and is an unquestionable RB1.

Prior to Sunday, Murray didn't appear concerned about his workhorse role and dismissed the criticism that he's getting overworked.

"No. I don’t really hear it," said Murray, per The Dallas Morning News' Jon Machota. "I'm just concentrating on doing my job and doing what I can to help this team win. Whatever they ask me to do, like I’ve said since I’ve been here, I’m going to do it to the best of my ability.

Dunbar had just 12 carries on the 2014 season before Sunday's game, so his role looks to be perpetually minimal at this point. Averaging 7.1 yards per carry in six prior contests, Randle seems like the more explosive, superior No. 2 option.

But with the touches Murray gets, neither Dunbar nor Randle is even worth endorsing as RB2 or flex options even in the deepest fantasy leagues. As of now, Randle is the top handcuff option to watch for behind the dynamic starter.
