World Series 2014: Giants vs. Royals Live Stream Schedule and Game Info

Sean ODonnellOct 20, 2014

Neither the Kansas City Royals nor the San Francisco Giants won their divisions during the regular season. In fact, they didn't even reach the 90-win mark. Regardless, the 2014 World Series is still primed to deliver an epic showdown between two postseason juggernauts.

The Royals came back from a 7-3 deficit against the Oakland Athletics before sweeping the Los Angeles Angels and Baltimore Orioles en route to an 8-0 playoff record. The Giants defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road before taking down the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals.

This year's championship series is a great example of what can happen when every playoff team begins with a fresh record—every squad has a chance to go the distance. We're certainly in for a compelling conclusion to the 2014 season, so let's view the full World Series schedule to ensure not a moment is missed.

Preview and Prediction

KANSAS CITY, MO - OCTOBER 05: James Shields #33 of the Kansas City Royals reacts after a strikeout to end the top of the sixth inning against the Los Angeles Angels during Game Three of the American League Division Series at Kauffman Stadium on October 5

The Royals have been dangerous at the plate throughout the month of October. Tough at-bats from the entire lineup and a sudden ability to hit the long ball has led to an unblemished postseason record. The team's .331 batting average is better than any playoff squad that played at least seven games.

This is no one-dimensional offense, either. Kansas City combines the power of Mike Moustakas, efficiency of Eric Hosmer and baserunning ability of Alex Gordon, while Lorenzo Cain continues to show up in the clutch. Simply put: The Royals get production from everywhere.

The Giants are no slouches at the plate and rival the efficiency of the Royals. While the team's .244 batting average is slightly lower than Kansas City's, collecting 88 hits in 10 games is nothing to sneeze at. Having Pablo Sandoval in the lineup doesn't hurt, either. Here's a look at his career World Series stats, via MLB:

On the mound, San Francisco is even better. Madison Bumgarner may be the best playoff starter on either team. In four postseason starts, he's pitched 31.2 innings, allowing 19 hits and five earned runs while walking five and striking out 28 en route to a 2-1 record and 1.42 ERA.

While Bumgarner has been good, the Giants bullpen has been even better. Yusmeiro Petit has emerged as an elite multi-inning reliever, Jeremy Affeldt continues to show up game after game and closer Santiago Casilla has been extremely clutch.

Kansas City may not have a starting rotation equal to the Giants, but its bullpen picks up plenty of slack. Wade Davis has been a monster in each of his appearances, Kelvin Herrera continues to throw hard and closer Greg Holland has earned six saves.

Here's a great side-by-side comparison of both teams' bullpens, via MLB:

These teams are very evenly matched across the board, and picking a winner could be similar to flipping a coin. Although, the difference-maker in this series will be the Giants' veteran experience. They've been in this situation before, and that will be a true advantage in the long run.

Expect this series to come down to the wire, as San Francisco notches a decisive road win in Game 7.

Prediction: Giants in seven
