Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Roddy White's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 7

Tim KeeneyOct 19, 2014

Real-life problems for the Atlanta Falcons are beginning to translate to the fantasy world.

While Roddy White was able to reward his owners with a huge performance in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens, Matt Ryan and Julio Jones were decidedly underwhelming in the 29-7 defeat.

Here's a look at the final numbers for each major member of the Birds' passing game:

Moving forward, Ryan is a low-end QB1. Jones is still a top-five fantasy WR and White is firmly entrenched as a WR2. That said, it's going to be incredibly frustrating to own anyone in this offense.

The problem here is that this is an all-too-common tweet from the team's official feed:

Not necessarily the fumbling part, but the Falcons' offensive line is having major problems protecting Ryan, who was sacked five times by a team that entered the week just No. 22 in the league in sack percentage, per Pro-Football-Reference.com. It's a unit that has been ravaged by injuries, and center Peter Konz joined the list Sunday, per Sports Illustrated's Jenny Vrentas:

It's difficult for the passing game to get into a rhythm when Ryan is constantly parallel to the ground or under immense pressure. Mike Smith, via ESPN.com's Vaughn McClure, put it simply:

Ultimately, this trio is simply too talentedand the offense is too pass-heavyto be downgraded much. Ryan still managed a decent day despite dreadful circumstances, Jones is easily one of the best in the game at his position and White is a reliable, consistent veteran.

Still, considering the offensive line, it may not be a bad idea to start putting out some feelers on the trade market.
