Lin Out for Season
Sunday, April 12
Lakers head coach Byron Scott confirmed Lin will miss the rest of the season, the team announced.
On April 10, Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reported that Lin's MRI revealed an abnormality in the meniscus of his left knee. He planned to be re-evaluated and hoped to play in the team's last three games of the season. Lin missed Wednesday's game against the Denver Nuggets with a sore left knee.
After the Lakers' 119-101 loss, Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times provided more information on Lin's status:
Lin finishes the year with averages of 11.2 points, 4.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 25.8 minutes of action a night.
The Lakers did a great job of acquiring Lin from the Rockets for a mere pittance as Houston attempted to clear enough cap space for its failed pursuit of Chris Bosh.
Giving heavy minutes to Lin isn't without its drawbacks, though, as the Rockets learned last year. However, he managed to put together a decent season in a lost campaign for the Lakers.
