Good Surprises, Bad Surprises from Fantasy Football Week 6
Officially at the halfway point now in most fantasy football regular seasons, we have a pretty good idea of what the landscape looks like around the NFL right now.
But Week 6 still managed to introduce some crazy surprising performances across the league that definitely managed to swing quite a few fantasy games.
It's valuable to look back and reflect, regardless of whether you were on the better or worse side of those matchups, so let's do that now.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Here are the most surprising (good and bad) performance from fantasy football in Week 6.
Good Surprises
Joe Flacco, QB, Baltimore Ravens
In perhaps the most shocking performance of the entire season thus far, Flacco put up a ridiculous four touchdowns in just the first quarter.
He ended up with five on the game, and threw those five faster than any other player in NFL history (via ESPN).
Speed may not count for fantasy purposes, but those five touchdowns plus 306 passing yards and no picks makes for a heck of a game for Flacco, who had previously struggled this season.
Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers
After a really rough start to the season, Newton finally reminded everyone why he used to be one of the best fantasy players at any position for the last few years.
Dominant both through the air and on the ground, Newton did it all on Sunday against a very good Cincinnati defense.
He finished with 284 passing yards on 29 completions, but really broke through with his 107 rushing yards. He had two passing touchdowns to go along with another one on the ground as well. He's back to an elite QB1 after that performance.
Andre Holmes, WR, Oakland Raiders
For the (probably very) few people who started Holmes this week, they were rewarded handsomely. Holmes had only four catches on the day, but he sure did make them count.
Two of those went for touchdowns, and he racked up 121 yards to boot. He's the best offensive player on the Raiders right now, and showed that on Sunday.
Granted, he can't be counted on too much for fantasy purposes in Oakland's poor offense, but he remains a high-upside, low-floor flex option.
Bad Surprises

Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks
Going up against a beatable Dallas defense, Wilson (and his owners) had to be feeling really good about this week.
But things didn't quite go as planned, to say the least. He completed just 14 passes for 126 yards and no touchdowns, as Seattle's offense couldn't get anything going.
He threw an interception as well, although his rushing touchdown somewhat saved what was an otherwise putrid fantasy day.
Percy Harvin, WR, Seattle Seahawks
It shouldn't be a surprise (ironically) that two of these three bad surprises are from Seattle, who came up so short in what seemed like a juicy matchup.
Harvin had yet another disappointing performance. As a top receiver on a good offense going against a bad defense, this should have been his chance to get going in 2014.
But he laid a big goose egg in the receiving yards column, as his three catches amounted to exactly zero yards. That means he had zero points in standard leagues, and only a couple in PPR leagues. Harvin is a WR3 at best at this point.
Eddie Lacy, RB, Green Bay Packers
Arguably the most disappointing fantasy player through the first six weeks of the season, Lacy put up another stinker on Sunday.
He rushed for 40 yards, caught no passes and scored no touchdowns. What's worse, James Starks continues cutting into his workload.
With the lack of burst Lacy is showing, owners should start considering benching him for other options at this point. But it's still surprising to see such a promising player put up a four-point game.
