Andre Holmes, James Jones' Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 6
The Oakland Raiders offense has largely been a black hole for fantasy football managers this season, but wide receivers Andre Holmes and James Jones offered glimmers of hope with their respective performances against the high-powered San Diego Chargers in Week 6.

| Jones | 5 | 7 | 57 | 11.4 | 1 |
Holmes got the Raiders on the scoreboard early, taking advantage of busted coverage and reeling in a long throw from quarterback Derek Carr for a 77-yard touchdown.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport sardonically attributed the big play to interim head coach Tony Sparano, working his first game as the man in charge in Oakland after the firing of Dennis Allen:
Holmes got open again for a big 30-yard reception and helped the Raiders keep pace with the Bolts in the first half. He notched a second touchdown in the fourth quarter and looks like a potential breakout candidate. However, he did have a couple of notable drops on the afternoon.
Jones, doing most of his work against Chargers star cornerback Brandon Flowers, reeled in three catches for 41 yards in the first half, including a touchdown from six yards out on a truncated slant route with the ball thrown slightly behind him.

It's an encouraging performance from the two wideouts, but their fantasy value will live and die with Carr's play at quarterback. This game could be a turning point for the rookie, but it's best to proceed with cautious optimism.
Jones is the more consistent option and can slot in as a WR3, and perhaps a WR2 just about every week. Holmes has come on strong as of late and looked great against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, reeling five catches for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Despite playing well against the red-hot Chargers, Holmes is best reserved as a flex option against favorable defenses. He is someone to be avoided in Weeks 7 and 9, when the Raiders play the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks, respectively. If you're looking for wide receiver depth, however, Holmes could be a fine midseason pickup.
