Jordan Cameron, Brian Hoyer's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 6

R. Cory SmithOct 12, 2014

Fantasy owners have been waiting for Jordan Cameron to have a breakout performance all season. During the Cleveland Browns' Week 6 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the tight end finally got going thanks to a few huge passes from quarterback Brian Hoyer.

Both players had moments of greatness, but it was Cameron that obviously had the better outing. Here's a look at statistics for both players, courtesy of ESPN.com.

Cleveland's quarterback-tight end tandem finally looked the part that fantasy owners had hoped for against Pittsburgh. One of the most notable plays came in the second quarter when Cameron caught a 51-yard pass from Hoyer for a touchdown.

The visit to the end zone was Cameron's first of the season in the four games he's suited up due to a shoulder injury. Sigmund Bloom of FootballGuys.com passed along his thoughts on Cameron's success against the Steelers:

That reception in Week 1 was for 47 yards, which proves he is a big-play threat for Hoyer along with being an end-zone target.

For Hoyer, the quarterback continued to show consistency for owners who needed him this week. After throwing for 291 yards and three touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans, Hoyer proved himself again in Week 6.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports noted the dominance for Hoyer and his tight end:

While Cameron is proving why he was considered a TE1 before the season, Hoyer is showing he can be a worthy backup when necessary. He's not a flashy quarterback for owners, but he can be started in fantasy leagues depending on matchups.

The next three games for the Browns are against porous defenses in the Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Given the recent success for both players, Cameron should be a no-doubt starter while Hoyer might be worthy of a pickup for quarterbacks on a bye.
