Top Games to Watch

Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks won last year's Super Bowl thanks mostly to a great defense and strong rushing attack. However, quarterback Russell Wilson is now showing he can win games on his own, like he did against the Washington Redskins on Monday night.

Redskins safety Ryan Clark was certainly impressed, explaining after the game, via Mike Jones of The Washington Post, "We got beat by a better team. We got beat by, as far as I’m concerned this weekend, the best player in the NFL. Russell Wilson made every play he had to make for his team to win, and we didn’t."

If Wilson keeps playing at his current level, the Seahawks will be difficult to beat as they attempt to defend their title.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys have surprisingly become the run-heavy team behind DeMarco Murray, who rushed for over 100 yards in each of the first five games of the season. The offensive line has been incredible, and it has helped the offense move the football at will in recent wins.

The Cowboys have certainly impressed with their 4-1 record, but this will be the biggest test of the season to see how serious this team really is.

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills

Tom Brady has had a lot of success against Buffalo in the past, as noted by Jeff Grant:

However, the Bills have a chance to change a long history against the Patriots with this game. Both teams come in with a 3-2 record, which is good enough for a tie at first place in a wide-open AFC East. If Buffalo can defeat its division rival at home, it could take a big step toward winning the division.

The good news is the Bills do have a good chance of pulling off this upset. Primarily, the defense has been among the best in the league this year, which Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News saw in the last game:

With Kyle Orton providing even a slight upgrade over EJ Manuel, the offense is able to take advantage of the young weapons all over the field.

Add this to the Patriots' struggles on the road (1-2 with the only win coming when Matt Cassel threw four interceptions), and the Bills can surprise the league on Sunday.

New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles

Another big divisional game this weekend will come in prime time when the New York Giants try to extend their three-game winning streak against the 4-1 Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite the Eagles' positive record, there are reasons for concern in recent weeks. Bleacher Report's Bryn Swartz breaks down the good and the bad of this team:

Of course, it is important to note that five of the seven touchdowns over the past two games came from the defense and special teams. This is tough to rely on, which means Chip Kelly has to figure out how to get his offense back into form.

Meanwhile, the Giants have actually improved their offense thanks to the ability to hold onto the football. Eli Manning has only thrown one interception in the last three games, and he is now spreading the ball around to a number of targets on offense. With Odell Beckham finally healthy, this could be a dangerous unit.

The NFC East was considered one of the worst divisions in football last season, but this could become a tight race after this weekend.
