Cowboys' DeMarco Murray Records 100 Rushing Yards in 1st 5 Games of Season
Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray ran for 136 yards on 31 carries in Sunday's 20-17 overtime win over the Houston Texans, becoming just the third player in NFL history to top 100 rushing yards in each of his team's first five games of a season, per ESPN's Adam Caplan.
Though he extended the 100-yard streak, Murray failed to find the end zone for the first time this season, thus missing his chance to become just the ninth player with 100 or more rushing yards and a rushing touchdown in five consecutive games, per pro-football-reference.com's play index.
On pace for 416 carries, 2,144 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns, Murray easily leads the league with 670 rushing yards, putting him 210 clear of second-place Le'Veon Bell's 460.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The huge gap between first and second is similar for carries, with Murray's 130 totes giving him an advantage of 36 over second-place LeSean McCoy (94).
Furthermore, Murray's five rushing touchdowns make him the only player with more than three, though 10 running backs have exactly three.
In a season that hasn't exactly been noted for prolific play at his position, Murray is on pace to (barely) break Eric Dickerson's single-season record of 2,105 rushing yards, set for the Los Angeles Rams in 1984.
However, even with the Cowboys sporting an excellent offensive line, the all-time record is a bit much to ask from a player who set career-high marks with 217 carries and 1,121 rushing yards last season.
Murray has never played all 16 games, and while he'd likely need to do so in order to make a run at 2,000 yards, he could quite conceivably lead the league in rushing with just 12 or 13 games of work in a down season for top running backs.
