Twitter Reacts to Calum Chambers' Fifth Yellow Card, Upcoming Suspension

Gianni VerschuerenOct 5, 2014

Arsenal's Calum Chambers picked up his fifth yellow card of the 2014-15 Premier League season during Sunday's fixture against Chelsea, and the young Gunner will be suspended for his team's next match, against Hull City after the international break.

The Daily Mirror's John Cross shared the news:

Chambers made a challenge on a sprinting Eden Hazard just minutes after Gary Cahill committed a nightmare tackle on Alexis Sanchez, and official Martin Atkinson was forced to draw the card to avoid the situation boiling over.

As shared by OptaJoe, Chambers has gotten used to bookings during his Arsenal career:

The Gunners currently face a bit of a defensive crisis, with regular right-back Mathieu Debuchy already sidelined with an injury. ESPN FC didn't like the Gunners' outlook after Chambers' suspension:

FootballFacts101 couldn't believe the 19-year-old somehow managed to get himself suspended by receiving five yellow cards in just seven matches:

The booking didn't seem to deter Chambers one bit, as he received a stern warning from Atkinson for another foul on Andre Schurrle on the edge of the box near the end of the first half. Bleacher Report's James McNicholas thought he was lucky to escape a second booking:

Facing the quick and elusive Hazard, Academy Soccer Coach didn't want to be in Chambers' shoes:

Goal.com's Keith Hickey couldn't help himself:

Hector Bellerin is the likely replacement for Chambers when Arsenal take on Hull on the next matchday, giving the 19-year-old Spaniard another chance to show Arsene Wenger what he can do.

Bellerin's inclusion would give the Gunners virtually no depth on the bench, however, so the fans must pray nothing happens to any of the remaining starters in the near future.
