UK Back Pages: Arsenal's Danny Welbeck Praised, 'Soft' Liverpool Hammered

Danny Welbeck played the hero role for Arsenal on Wednesday night, as the former Manchester United man led the Gunners to a convincing 4-1 win over Galatasaray with a hat-trick. 

Liverpool, on the other hand, were done in by Swiss side Basel 1-0 after a middling performance from the Reds. 

In The Mirror, skipper Steven Gerrard was highly critical of Liverpool's performance, and Rio Ferdinand was also blasted by Kick It Out for comments made in his book.

Welbeck is hailed in Star Sport, and Ferdinand has some revealing quotes that the Three Lions are "doomed" in his opinion.

Welbeck got similar star treatment in Daily Express, along with a reference to the flares that were tossed on the pitch at the Emirates.
