Ludogorets vs. Real Madrid: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

Gianni VerschuerenSep 30, 2014

Ludogorets Razgrad put together an admirable performance against Liverpool on the first matchday of the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League, and things won't get any easier when holders Real Madrid travel to Bulgaria on Wednesday.

Los Blancos have won four straight and have scored almost at will doing so, and the Spanish giants are flying high as they head into this fixture. Things haven't gone so smoothly for Ludogorets in the Bulgarian league, but a solid performance against favourites Real could jump-start their season in a big way.

Date: Wednesday, October 1

Preview

The hosts may not be the biggest name in football, but following their close 2-1 loss against Liverpool, Los Blancos will be warned. As shared by Real Madrid TV's Phil Kitromilides, midfielder Dani Abalo believes a result on Wednesday would be phenomenal for the club:

Portugal international Pepe returned to training for Real, as reported by AS, but given the excellent play of Raphael Varane, Carlo Ancelotti might opt not to rush him back into the squad and allow him to regain form.

Star striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been in phenomenal form in the past few weeks, scoring an incredible 11 goals in his last six matches, per WhoScored.com. Via ESPN FC's Dale Johnson, he's just three goals short of Raul's Champions League scoring record of 71:

Given the hot streak he's currently on, it's not a stretch to imagine he could equal the record on Wednesday. Ludogorets are no pushovers, but like FC Basel, they lack the pure quality to match up with Los Blancos' incredible attacking depth.

Milan Borjan told Sky Sports he dreams of a Premier League move one day, and a strong showing against arguably the best attacking team in world football would be an excellent way to boost his transfer profile:

"

It has been a bit of whirlwind since joining Ludogorets and then making my debut against Liverpool in the Champions League.

I enjoyed the experience of playing against Liverpool at such an iconic venue like Anfield despite the result and it has whetted my appetite to play in England.

It has been a dream of mine to play in England and if the right offer comes along it is something I would seriously consider.

"

That will be easier said than done, however. Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez are starting to find their shooting boots, and striker Karim Benzema would love to make an impact on the score sheet as well with these colourful boots:

Ludogorets' showing against the Reds was impressive, but Real Madrid present an entirely different challenge. The Bulgarians will need a phenomenal effort to stand any chance of slowing down the Spanish machine, and given their incredible form, don't expect it to happen on Wednesday.

Prediction: Ludogorets 0-3 Real Madrid
