Julian Green will be unavailable for Hamburg's fixture against Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday evening due to a bruised rib.

ESPN FC's Stephan Uersfeld reported that the youngster, on loan from Bayern Munich, would be absent after picking up the knock during a Monday training session.

Green has made two Bundesliga appearances for Hamburg so far this season, the most recent of which came against parent club Bayern over the weekend.

His impact at the Imtech Arena has been minimal, but the signs are there that manager Josef Zinnbauer intends to give the United States international a fair chance among his senior ranks.

In his report, Uersfeld mentions that Green will stay in Hamburg while the rest of the team travel to North Rhine-Westphalia, still striving to produce their first victory of the campaign.

As things stand, Zinnbauer's men sit second from the bottom of Germany's top flight, the only team yet to score a goal in the 2014-15 season.

It's in this particular aspect that Green's presence will have hoped to improve matters, but his impact will have to wait as he recovers from this minor setback.

The 19-year-old will reportedly return to training this week before his plans for a comeback are put into force.
