Caen vs. PSG: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

Gianni VerschuerenSep 23, 2014

Paris Saint-Germain have gone winless in their last two Ligue 1 matches and will be desperate for a win when they travel to Normandy to take on Caen in Week 7.

PSG have won just two of their first six Ligue 1 matches in 2014-15, and Laurent Blanc is already feeling the pressure after last week's Champions League disappointment against Ajax.

Caen are winless in their last three themselves, and Wednesday's fixture should give Les Parisiens an excellent opportunity to bounce back and reestablish themselves as favourites for the French title.

Preview

PSG's 1-1 draw against Lyon marked the third consecutive game in which the current French champions gave up a lead, and as a result, Les Bleus currently find themselves outside of the European spots in the Ligue 1 standings. For a club expected to run away with the title, such a run is unacceptable.

Blanc has so far failed to deliver European silverware as manager of PSG, and with the early struggles in 2014-15, some pundits are questioning whether or not he still presents PSG with their best chance to win.

The manager acknowledged his squad simply isn't playing well, via Goal:

"

We're not playing as well as a team, we're not as sharp and we can't seem to put things into place.

We know this scenario only too well. We score the goal that should liberate us and, instead, I get the impression that we tense up.

When a club's not getting results there's always the feeling of a malaise. The atmosphere was a bit more relaxed last year with the results we had.

The players are all disappointed and we're realistic enough to know we're not at our best.

"

According to L'Equipe (h/t to Get French Football), the situation may be more dire than the club is currently letting out. France's premier sports paper claims Blanc has a week to save his job, with a final decision being made after the UEFA Champions League clash against Barcelona.

Marco Verratti will be suspended for Wednesday's match, and via Bleacher Report's Jonathan Johnson, Thiago Silva won't be fit in time to make the squad:

He also believes replacement Marquinhos is starting to form a solid centre-back pairing with new arrival David Luiz:

Caen have been very up and down in their first season back on the top level of French football, but at their best, they have the potential to trouble PSG's midfield group that will be without conductor Verratti.

On talent alone, this should be an easy win for Les Parisiens, but if their struggles continue, the hosts have every chance of stealing some points away from the strong favourites.
