Holger Badstuber Injury: Updates on Bayern Star's Recovery from Thigh Surgery

The injury woes of Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber have resumed after the club revealed their academy product is set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines. 

Via the official club Twitter account, Bayern revealed on Sunday that the thigh injury Badstuber had picked up in Saturday's 2-0 win over Stuttgart will bring another long-term absence:

The 25-year-old has only just returned from a long period out thanks to a recurring knee injury, but Badstuber won't allow this new setback stop him, he says:

With his defender out of contention, Pep Guardiola will have to revert to last season's tactics, relying largely on Jerome Boateng, Dante and new signing Mehdi Benatia to protect the core of his defence.

Benatia has only been in the Germans' camp for a matter of weeks, but his addition to the squad will give a new sense of security at the back, limiting the impact of Badstuber and Javi Martinez's injuries.
