Chelsea vs. Swansea City: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

Tom SunderlandSep 12, 2014

The only two teams remaining who have failed to drop a point thus far, Chelsea and Swansea City currently account for the top two places in the Premier League, but that's all set to change on Saturday.

The Welsh outfit travel to Stamford Bridge in the hopes of surmounting their supposed superiors, but a hefty task lies ahead, with Jose Mourinho's outfit having enjoyed tremendous form thus far.

That being said, with only one goal conceded so far this season, Garry Monk's men have looked formidable, too, making for a heated exchange when these two face off in west London.

Chelsea's Cause For Concern

Swansea's standing on equal points alongside Chelsea gives Mourinho a clear indication of the threat Saturday's opponents pose, and the Blues' recent record against Monk's outfit shows more reason to be wary.

Since the start of 2012, these two teams have met five times in the league, the last three of which Chelsea have won, but on only one of those occasions did they manage to score more than once.

Before that, the Blues drew back-to-back league games against Swansea, and their luck isn't much better in the Capital One Cup, having been knocked out by the Swans in 2012-13 in that season's semi-final.

Monk's fine defensive record so far this term would suggest the Welsh upstarts can be the team who finally put a brake on the Blues' offensive streak in what will be arguably the hosts' toughest test of the season so far.

Costa Out Of Contention?

Mourinho could have to face that defensive threat without the use of in-form man Diego Costa, too, after it came to light the Spanish international may be deemed unfit to feature.

ESPN FC's Ben Dinnery confirms the striker will undergo a late fitness test before a decision is made:

Should Costa be out of the match, Chelsea have ample reserves in the shape of Loic Remy and Didier Drogba, but with four goals in his first three Premier League games, Costa's prowess up front will be difficult to replace.

Mourinho takes a risk in fielding his star forward if he does choose to play him, injury withstanding, in a question of short-term versus long-term benefits.
