NFL TV Schedule 2014: Week 2 Coverage Map Listings for Every Game
After a scintillating opening set of games, the NFL has plenty on tap for an encore in Week 2.
Thursday Night Football always tends to be a little sloppy as teams have little time to prepare, but a division battle between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens is never one to miss.
On Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks vs. San Diego Chargers, Atlanta Falcons vs. Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions vs. Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears vs. San Francisco 49ers could all easily feature two playoff teams.

Game of the Week Prediction: Chicago at San Francisco

The 49ers, according to OddsShark.com, are seven-point favorites against the Bears Sunday, making them the third-largest favorite of the week.
On the surface, it's not hard to see why. San Fran just put any preseason concerns to bed by thrashing the Dallas Cowboys, while the Bears fell to the Buffalo Bills in what many regarded as the biggest upset of Week 1. Throw in the fact the 'Niners will be pumped for the regular-season opening of Levi's Stadium, and there's reason to expect a blowout here.
But this one has shootout written all over it.
After finishing with a league-average 5.4 yards per play in 2013, San Francisco has taken noticeable steps forward on that side of the ball. Colin Kaepernick now has a healthy (well, healthier than last year, at least) Michael Crabtree to go with Anquan Boldin, Vernon Davis and newcomer Stevie Johnson. The extra weapons resulted in a methodically-efficient performance against the 'Boys on Sunday, as he completed 16 of his 23 throws for 201 yards and two touchdowns.
Pro Football Focus' Steve Palazzolo summed up his day:
"It was an impressive showing for Kaepernick who was firing lasers all game long, whether under pressure or in a clean pocket. He made very good decisions and took advantage of some soft coverage from the Cowboys’ secondary.
On back-to-back plays in the first quarter, Kaepernick hit WR Anquan Boldin in the numbers on a post route and came back to shed a sack to find TE Vernon Davis up the sideline for a 29-yard touchdown.
"
“He’s an extremely explosive player, as explosive as they get in this league,” Bears head coach Marc Trestman added, via ChicagoBears.com's Larry Mayer. “He can not only throw well in the pocket, he can throw outside the pocket.”
In the running game, Frank Gore will keep doing what he has been doing for the past 75 years (or so), while Carlos Hyde looked like a future star in his NFL debut.
After the rookie tallied 50 yards and a score on just seven carries, former NFL scout John Middlekauff put it simply:
The Bears revamped their defense in the offseason, but the changes didn't show in the preseason, they didn't show when they allowed 6.4 yards per play at home against Buffalo and got very little pass rush outside of Lamarr Houston and it won't show against the 'Niners' improving offense.
On the other side of the ball, though, Chicago has the talent to keep up.
This is all dependent on the health of Brandon Marshall (ankle) and Alshon Jeffery (hamstring), who both missed practice Wednesday. But if they're on the field, one of the most talented wide receiving duos in the NFL will have a favorable matchup against corners Tramaine Brock (toe) and Chris Culliver (concussion), who are banged up.
Moreover, San Francisco's run defense sans NaVorro Bowman and Aldon Smith allowed DeMarco Murray to run rampant for 118 yards on 22 carries, which means Matt Forte could be in line for his second huge game in a row.
Ultimately, the 'Niners should prevail at home. But with two offenses full of weapons all over the field, two defenses with question marks and significant injuries that could shake everything up, this has the makings for a captivating, entertaining battle on national television Sunday night.
