Top Games to Watch
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Indianapolis Colts

In what could be the most explosive offensive encounter of Week 2, the Indianapolis Colts will host the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. The Colts are coming off a loss to the Broncos that saw them fall just short in their comeback attempt, while the Eagles overcame a 17-point deficit to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Colts' performance was somewhat encouraging against one of the NFL's best teams, while Philly's showing left plenty to be desired despite the win. Quarterback Nick Foles was awful in the first half as he turned the ball over three times, which nearly equaled his turnover total from all of 2013, according to SportsCenter:
Foles eventually bounced back to throw for 322 yards and two touchdowns en route to a victory, but he was nowhere near as efficient and decisive as he was last season. Perhaps it was just a one-week hiccup on Foles' part, but it is also possible that he played well beyond his means last year.
The Colts have no such concerns under center with Andrew Luck clearly on track to become the NFL's next great signal-caller. Luck threw for 370 yards and two touchdowns and made the most of his sizable stable of weapons.
Indy's biggest issue is the lack of a running game as Trent Richardson continues to plod. Philadelphia has a big advantage in that regard with LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles in the backfield. With that said, the Colts could really use a win to avoid starting 0-2, and that desperation could drive them.
Whatever the case, this game figures to feature plenty of offensive fireworks, which will certainly keep the prime-time crowd entertained.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Games that feature polar opposites are always quite intriguing, and that will be the case when the Atlanta Falcons travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals in Week 2. Both teams pulled out dramatic victories in Week 1, and they will look to maintain that momentum on Sunday.
The Bengals needed a 77-yard bomb from Andy Dalton to A.J. Green late in the fourth quarter against the Baltimore Ravens, while the Falcons came back on a couple occasions to defeat the New Orleans Saints in overtime.
Cincinnati was able to move the ball well throughout the game against Baltimore, but it had to settle for five field goals before finally finding pay dirt in the closing minutes. That wasn't an issue for Atlanta whatsoever as it scored 37 points due largely to the spectacular play of quarterback Matt Ryan.
Matty Ice led a game-tying drive at the end of the fourth quarter and a a game-winning drive in overtime to beat one of the NFL's top contenders. He threw for three touchdowns and well over 400 yards, which left head coach Mike Smith in awe after the game, according to The Associated Press (h/t ESPN.com).
"He's played a lot of games, made a lot of plays for us," Smith said. "But I was really impressed with his ability to extend some plays by moving around in the pocket. And he was very, very accurate. When you have (568 yards) of total offense and 448 through the air, your quarterback is playing well."
Ryan excelled in all aspects of that game, but he was particularly productive in terms of finding receivers like Julio Jones and Roddy White deep down the field, per Pro Football Focus:
"Matt Ryan was 5-for-6 for 138 yards on passes thrown at least 20 yards in the air.
— Pro Football Focus (@PFF) September 10, 2014"
That rate of success may not be 100 percent sustainable, but Ryan will have to play at a high level all season long due to Atlanta's shortcomings. Doing so in Week 2 will be difficult against a stout Bengals defense on the road.
There is no doubt that Cincinnati has the edge over the Falcons from a defensive standpoint, but the Atlanta offense is banging on all cylinders. The winner of that particular matchup will likely determine the winner of the game, and it should be an interesting chess match.
Detroit Lions vs. Carolina Panthers

The Seahawks are the clear favorites to win the NFC this season, but there are a few other teams with a legitimate chance to knock them off. The San Francisco 49ers are among them, as are the Carolina Panthers and Detroit Lions. The latter two teams will meet Sunday in a game that should be a true measuring stick within the conference.
Carolina was one of the biggest surprise teams last season due largely to its excellent defense as well as the play of quarterback Cam Newton. The Panthers beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1 with Newton out injured, but he is expected to start in Week 2, according to The Associated Press (h/t ABC News).
Per Max Henson of Panthers.com, all systems were go for Newton during practice on Wednesday:
Newton's ability to run adds another dimension to Carolina's offense, so the Panthers should be even more dangerous in Week 2. With that said, the Lions may very well have the most explosive offense in the entire league due largely to quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
That combination tore up the New York Giants in Week 1, but the Lions' talent doesn't stop there. Other pass-catchers such as Golden Tate and Eric Ebron as well as running backs Reggie Bush and Joique Bell allow Detroit to beat opposing defenses in a myriad of ways.
The Giants had no answer for the Lions offense, but the Panthers should provide a much tougher challenge. A win on the road against Carolina would be huge for Detroit's credibility, but the Panthers are aiming to prove that 2013 wasn't a fluke.
