Diego Maradona Scolds Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi at Exhibition Match

Diego Maradona was one of 50 current and former legends who participated in the "Match for Peace" at Rome's Olympic Stadium on Monday.

The likes of Roberto Baggio, Andriy Shevchenko, Carlos Valderrama, Diego Simeone and Alessandro Del Piero took part in the exhibition game that was backed by Pope Francis to promote a diplomatic solution for the crisis in Gaza.

The game between a Pupi Foundation XI (a charity founded by Javier Zanetti) and Scholas (an educational entity launched by the Pope) finished 6-3 to Pupi, thanks in part to a hat-trick from Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.

After the final whistle, Maradona surprised the awaiting media by remonstrating against the presence of his countryman Icardi. 

"Icardi should not have played this match," the Buenos Aires Herald quotes the Argentinean legend. "Icardi is not part of the football family," he added, according to Football Italia. 

Saint Diego is not a big fan of Icardi because of his conduct with Argentinean model Wanda Nara, ex-wife of his former Sampdoria teammate Maxi Lopez.

Icardi famously started a relationship with Nara as her marriage to Lopez broke down, and they were married in May of this year. Lopez strongly objected to Icardi's tendency to publish photos of the former couple's three children on social media sites; Icardi responded by getting the kid's names tattooed on his arm. 

In December, Maradona said he would have punched Icardi in the face if such a scenario had happened to him. According to Football Italia, Maradona said that in his day, a player "would have been killed" if they looked at another teammate’s wife or fiancee.
