Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid: Simulating La Liga Title Decider on FIFA 14

Nick AkermanMay 16, 2014

La Liga very rarely remains unresolved heading into the last day. Both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have an excellent chance of securing the title, but in all honesty, it shouldn't have come down to this.

Both teams have endured difficult slumps. Barca have won two of their last five games, dropping three points to Granada and drawing their last two with Getafe and Elche, per WhoScored.com. Atletico, who have so often looked favourites to capture the prize, lost to Levante before drawing with Malaga in their last two matches.

Barca and Atletico are three points apart. The Blaugrana can go level with a win, securing the title on La Liga's head-to-head ruling. Atletico need just a point to be crowned champions of Spain.

We decided to simulation the match using an Xbox One copy of FIFA 14 to see what happens. Here's how the title decider panned out.

Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid: FIFA 14 Highlights

One goal was all it took. A cagey affair ensued, but Pedro's headed winner proved enough to land yet another title for Barcelona. Although Gerardo Martino's men have posted a ropey season, the Argentinian manager would be forgiven by many if such a story played out in reality.

Will Barcelona win the league at their Camp Nou home? Drama is certainly set to unfold in a match that effectively becomes a cup final for the domestic crown. Atletico, who are well-drilled under Diego Simeone, just need 90 minutes of perfection to secure the plaudits.

Who will emerge victorious? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
