In 70 top-flight matches contested between these two sides at Anfield, Liverpool have managed to trump their Chelsea foes on 46 occasions, while Mourinho's men have won just nine.
The last of those wins came in May 2010, one week shy of being exactly four years from the day that Steven Gerrard was responsible for a Didier Drogba opener.
Fast forward to today and the Reds' captain will be responsible for ensuring his side continue a good run of home form against the West Londoners that has seen them win two and draw one of their three matches since.
Rodgers' side haven't lost a league game in 2014, while it's understandable that Sunderland's victory at Stamford Bridge last Saturday may mean Chelsea are still smarting from their recent setbacks, of which Liverpool are now less familiar.
Ironically, Liverpool's last defeat came on December 29 of last year to none other than Chelsea, giving Sunday's hosts yet more reason to be upbeat about their revenge mission.

Liverpool are one game short of cutting a new record for the amount of games in which they have scored three or more goals in a single game during one season, having tied the current record at 20.
That leaves Chelsea in a precarious position, not wanting to be the side who open up the title run-in for the Reds as well as gifting them another boasting point should the floodgates open.
