Monty Brown Injury: Update on Mercer C's Concussion and Return After Memory Loss
Mercer's upset victory over Duke in the NCAA tournament brought about plenty of excitement, but a potentially serious injury will keep Monty Brown from competing in the team's next game.
The senior center suffered a concussion during the victory and will miss the Bears' third-round matchup against Tennessee. Rachel Nichols of Turner Sports provided the details:
Head coach Bob Hoffman previously explained that his player "hasn't been completely ruled out but it doesn't look good," via the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Brown only played four minutes in the 78-71 victory over the Blue Devils, scoring two points on his two free-throw attempts. The rest of the team did its job with five players in double figures as the No. 14 seed Bears pulled off the biggest upset in the round of 64.
Still, this excitement is dampened by the injury to Brown. C.L. Brown of ESPN noted the injury occurring late in the first half:
The senior did not appear for the rest of the game and received special treatment, via Nichols:
For the season, he averaged 4.5 points and 2.4 rebounds on 9.5 minutes per game. Mercer will miss his interior presence and ability to alter shots at 6'11", especially against a big front line of Tennessee.
Of course, the player's health remains the primary concern at this juncture.
