England vs. Denmark: Simulating Three Lions' Friendly Using FIFA 14 on Xbox One

Nick AkermanMar 4, 2014

England's preparation for the 2014 World Cup begins with a Wembley date against Denmark on March 5.

Roy Hodgson named a 30-man squad for the midweek friendly and begins the difficult task of whittling it down to a final 23 for the trip to Brazil. The likes of Luke Shaw, Raheem Sterling and Jay Rodriguez will hope to impress to help cement their place on the plane.

We simulated the upcoming tie using a copy of FIFA 14 on Xbox One. Just to keep it interesting, the aforementioned players were included in the starting lineup, as was Celtic's Fraser Forster. How did the Three Lions perform?

England vs. Denmark: FIFA 14 Highlights

FINAL SCORE: England 3-0 Denmark (Sturridge x2, Rooney)

Hodgson will be more than pleased if his team manages to replicate this performance in the real game. Clinical finishes from Sturridge and Rooney, who have the potential to form a prolific partnership, headlined a display of real confidence across the board.

Shaw bombed up the left flank effectively, Sterling hit the byline with confidence and Rodriguez nabbed two assists. The visitors struggled to create opportunities and were out-battled in the centre of the pitch, falling to deal the slick passing of Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson.

Can England replicate such a positive result in front of their fans? It's important for the team to quickly return to winning ways after recent losses to Chile and Germany, so the nation will certainly hope so.
