Dissecting the Top 25: No Room for Michigan

Michigan was the team picked to win the Big Ten. Michigan was the team picked to face LSU for the national championship.

Michigan was the team that lost to Appalachian State...in their own backyard...in front of a sell out crowd!

And yet, as I looked at this week’s Bleacher Report Top25, I realized that some voters are either still in denial or still in the moron category...

Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, the Appalachian State Mountaineers are receiving gift baskets from every other Big Ten school

Losing on the road is one thing. Losing in your own house is another. Being ranked in the top five and losing to a I-AA team is just downright embarrassing.

Everyone can say that Michigan is better than they played on Saturday, but common sense has to come in sooner or later.

Michigan has a Heisman candidate in Mike Hart. They have an explosive QB in Chad Henne. But they still lost to the Mountaineers of Appalachian State!

That warrants a drop out out of the rankings.

I’m not sure which one’s worse—the fact that some of us got the Top 25 wrong, or the fact that the AP and the coaches got it right.

To quote a legendary WWE Superstar: “Appalachian 3:16 says we just beat Michigan’s @$$!”

No Respect

Florida State, Tennessee, and Michigan all have three things in common: bodies beaten, egos bruised, and records blemished.

Yet, Tennessee is still in the BR Top 25…and so is Michigan.

Here’s a question: How stupid can some of these voters be?

When Florida lost last season, everyone wanted to drop them out of the Top 10. Even after Florida won the national title, it was called a fluke.

Before the season started, everyone picked the Trojans to win it all...again.

Just once, will someone give the SEC the respect it deserves? Anyone in the SEC can beat Michigan the way they played last weekend.

Would anyone be this lenient if basketball powerhouses like Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, or Florida got beat by some SWAC team?

I doubt it.

Where’s the Love for System?

I've always had the utmost respect for the Badgers, but I have a problem with them overtaking Florida.

Wisconsin has an unproven signal caller (Tyler Donovan). So does Florida (Tim Tebow). The Badgers won by 21 over Washington State (42-21). Florida won by 46 over Western Kentucky (49-3).

Wisconsin did deserve to move up, but past Florida?

Give me a break.

Here's my top five: LSU, USC, West Virginia, Florida, and Wisconsin.

The Big Ten isn't better than the SEC. Didn’t we prove that back in January?
