David Cameron Tweets Support for Thomas Hitzlsperger, Mocked by Twitter
David Cameron is a self-declared fan of Aston Villa. Therefore, when former midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger revealed that he was gay in an interview in Germany yesterday, the Prime Minister felt he should tweet a message of support for the German:
"As an #AVFC fan, I've always admired what Thomas Hitzlsperger did on the pitch - but I admire him even more today. A brave & important move.
— David Cameron (@David_Cameron) January 8, 2014"
Of course, Twitter is a social media platform where anyone can respond to anyone, and say more or less whatever they feel like.
So you know what's coming next.
Here are a selection of the more printable replies to Cameron's tweets:
"@David_Cameron STOP PRETENDING TO BE A VILLA FAN.

"@David_Cameron You'd never bloody heard of him, Tarquin.
— James Maw (@JamesMawFFT) January 8, 2014"
".@David_Cameron Name any of the goals he scored for Villa and I'll believe you. They're all memorable, just name one team he scored against.
— (at)JamieCutteridge (@JamieCutteridge) January 8, 2014"
"@David_Cameron Do you admire people like me? who look after terminally sick people who have been stripped of money from your policies?.
— Michael Alex Bird (@MALEXUK) January 9, 2014"
"@David_Cameron do you sing OOH AHH PAUL MCGRATH to your willy in the bath? y/n
— Rachael (@RachaelvsWorld) January 8, 2014"
He probably doesn't read the replies, though, because he's busy watching Christian Benteke's top 20 Aston Villa goals on YouTube.
