Real Madrid vs. Celta Vigo: Live Player Ratings for Los Blancos

Karl MatchettJan 6, 2014

Real Madrid beat Celta Vigo 3-0 in their La Liga clash on Monday, thanks to a second-half improvement which saw goals from Karim Benzema and a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo.

A drab and low-key first half was quickly sorted out by Carlo Ancelotti who made all three changes by the hour mark, including bringing on attacker Jese who was involved in setting up the opening goal for Benzema.

Ronaldo added two from close-range late on, the latter set up by Gareth Bale.

First half:

Lopez: Untroubled other than an early one-on-one which he did well to save.

Carvajal: Has on occasion gotten the better of his man and get into good positions to cut back.

Ramos: Real haven't defended aerial balls well today, but Ramos has been mainly untroubled in open play.

Pepe: Much the same; needs to be more dominant aerially.

Marcelo: Getting forward to support and put one great crossover.

Alonso: Maintaining possession well but needs more movement ahead of him.

Modric: Went close with one shot, maybe could support into the area more.

Isco: Not involved enough in creative moments, needs to be sharper.

Di Maria: Bright and looking to get shots away, but predictable.

Ronaldo: Not much service to run onto and no movement to play off.

Benzema: Static and waiting for chances, not doing enough to pressure the back line.

Second half:

Lopez: Essentially had nothing to do of note.

Carvajal: Excellent all game, provided good width and defended well.

Ramos: Still suspect aerially but was strong enough to keep the clean sheet.

Pepe: As with Ramos, did enough to keep Celta at bay.

Marcelo: Quiet in the second half as an attacking option.

Alonso: Subbed at half-time.

Illarra: Neat in possession, allowed others to break forward.

Isco: Subbed early in the half.

Modric: Played well in patches, never really dominated the game's tempo though.

Di Maria: Followed the same pattern as the first half and subbed.

Ronaldo: Came to life once Real were ahead. Good movement for the goals.

Benzema: Fed off scraps, better movement after the break and scored all-important first goal.

Jese: Had one good chance to score but set up opening goal and showed good aggression in attack.

Bale: Little time on the ball until final five minutes but had two shots and set up the last goal in that time.
