Luis Suarez, 15 goals
Suarez still leads the way atop the scorers chart, and he will be looking to add to his remarkable tally of 15 goals in 10 games this season when he takes to the field on Sunday.
Ahead of Liverpool’s trip to White Hart Lane, the Uruguayan will be licking his lips at the prospect of going up against a Tottenham side without Jan Vertonghen at the heart of their defence. The Belgian looks set to miss this one through injury.
Suarez has scored six times in his last two outings, but they were against much less capable opposition than Spurs. Can he fire Liverpool to victory over their fellow European challengers and extend his lead at the peak of the top scorer standings?
Sergio Aguero, 12 goals
Sergio Aguero is a couple of goals back from Suarez on 12 goals after he netted a superb volley against Arsenal.
The Argentinian forward was taken off with an injury early in the second period, but when he was on the pitch, he ran the Arsenal defenders ragged in typical fashion. He was driving at players, firing off shots and making key contributions in the final third.
From a Manchester City point of view, hopefully Aguero won’t be out of the team for too long.
Yaya Toure, 8 goals
Not only are City’s strikers in red-hot form, but they also have goals coming from midfield too.
Fernandinho bagged two against Arsenal, but Yaya Toure bagged another to continue his prolific season.
Toure slotted away a penalty in the dying embers of the rip-roaring 6-3 win over Arsenal, and he is now the top scoring midfield player in the Premier League along with Aaron Ramsey.
Alvaro Negredo, 7 goals
Alvaro Negredo finds himself in the top 10 after netting Manchester City’s crucial second goal against Arsenal. The Spanish forward has forged a remarkable partnership with Aguero, and their link-up play is often a joy to behold.
Negredo’s strike in this one capped off a fine Manchester City move, after he tapped in after excellent work from Pablo Zabaleta and Yaya Toure.
