Adrian Peterson Says He's Thought About Finishing NFL Career with Dallas Cowboys

Could Purple Jesus end his career as Blue Jesus? 

It's still likely a very long way out for a man who has proven to be part machine, but Adrian Peterson, who is already the Minnesota Vikings career rushing leader (by far), said on Thursday, in a moment of honesty with ESPN Radio, that he has thought about playing with the Dallas Cowboys at some point in his career (via Fox Sports Southwest's Louis Ojeda Jr.):

"You know, I'd be a liar if I said it's something that hasn't crossed my mind before," Peterson said on ESPN's SVP and Russillo. "But I've also said to myself it would be so amazing to be one of those players who stays with one team his entire career, it would be good if I could do that. But being from Texas, I've always wondered, wow, it would be cool to play in Dallas, to play back home. Or to play in Houston."

Now, before fans in Minnesota start hyperventilating and worrying about losing one of the only players who makes Vikings games worth watching this season, it's important to take this with a grain of salt. 

Peterson, 28, was born in Palestine, Texas, grew up as a Cowboys fan and simply answered a question truthfully. There's nothing more to it than that. This isn't a rumor—it isn't speculation that he wants out because of the Vikings' 3-8-1 season. It isn't anything.

Moreover, "All Day" is under contract with the Vikes through the 2017 season, so if he ever chose to make the move to Dallas (or Houston), it would likely be an end-of-the-career type move, which is still in the very faraway future. 

More than anything else, this is just some food for thought, as it's at least intriguing to think about Tony Romo, Dez Bryant and Peterson on the same offense together. 

Peterson, who took home the MVP last season, currently leads the NFL in carries (261), rushing yards (1,208) and rushing touchdowns (10). It's just more of what we've become accustomed to seeing from him, as he is well on his way to becoming one of the most productive running backs in NFL history. 

Seeing him bulldoze defenders in a Cowboys uniform would be weird, but it's not something you should expect to witness anytime soon.
