Louisiana is loaded
Fournette is hardly alone as a star playmaker in Louisiana. He leapfrogged West Monroe star Cameron Robinson on his way to No. 1.
Robinson, a 6'5", 330-pound offensive tackle, is committed to Alabama. He is now the nation's third-ranked player.
New Orleans area wide receivers Speedy Noil (Edna Karr High School) and Malachi Dupre (John Curtis Christian) are ranked 11th and 15th, respectively. Both players remain uncommitted.
Louisiana isn't lacking for top-tier defenders.
Edna Karr defensive tackle Gerald Willis (uncommitted) is ranked 23rd, while Monroe area safety Laurence Jones (Alabama commit) is at No. 31.
Wide receivers Trey Quinn (Lake Charles) and Cameron Simms (Monroe, La.) also landed in the top 100. Quinn, No. 87, is committed to LSU. Simms, No. 99, pledged to Alabama in August.
Moving on up
Several players skyrocketed in the latest rankings, including Auburn commit Racean Thomas (Oxford, Ala.). The running back rose nine slots to No. 24, which puts him among the country's top five players at his position.
Other running backs on the rise include Georgia commit Nick Chubb (Cedartown, Ga.) and Oregon commit Royce Freeman (Imperial, Calif.). Chubb jumped seven spots to No. 35, while Freeman moved from 55th to 50th on the list.
Wide receiver Travis Rudolph (West Palm Beach, Fla.) rose 10 spots to No. 69. The 6'1", 185-pound pass target is considering offers from Florida State, Auburn, Ohio State, Florida and Alabama.
Quinn, the aforementioned Louisiana receiver, elevated eight slots to No. 87. He became the nation's all-time leader in career receiving yards this season at Lake Barbe High School.
Linebacker Jacob Pugh (Tallahassee, Fla.) makes an appearance in the top 100. The Florida State commit climbed 41 rungs up the ladder to No. 97.
Fellow Florida State pledges Treon Harris (Miami, Fla.) and Demarcus Christmas are also major movers. Harris, a quarterback, comes in at No. 123, up 23 spots. Christmas, a defensive tackle, rose 19 places to No. 138.
