Penn State vs. Wisconsin: TV Info, Spread, Injury Updates, Game Time and More

May 31, 2018

The No. 15 Wisconsin Badgers play host to the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday to close out the season for both teams.

The 9-2 Badgers still have lofty BCS bowl aspirations and sit just outside the No. 14 rank required to qualify for an at-large bid. They're in a great position, riding a six-game winning streak into this Big Ten matchup.

A contest against the reeling 6-5 Nittany Lions may prove helpful in the pursuit of a BCS berth. After starting the season with two wins, Penn State has lost every other game.

Can Wisconsin Avoid the Upset?

The spread is of the large variety for a reason. Wisconsin is on a roll and at home for another senior send-off.

Better yet, the Badgers score an average of 36.8 points per game and have a defense that ranks in the top five with an average of just 13.4 points allowed per game.

The Badgers offensive attack is spearheaded by a trio of impressive running backs who have put together quite the season:

Wisconsin needs just 34 rushing yards to break the school record of 3,309 set last year—in 14 games. For those counting, Saturday's contest is game No. 12 of 2013 for the Badgers.

It's a contest the Badgers desperately need to win, so avoiding complacency is a must.

Prediction

The Badgers defense has held seven of 11 opponents to 10 points or less. Even if the Nittany Lions manage to surpass 10 points against one of the best defenses they have played all year, it will mean little.

Wisconsin runs a predictable rushing attack, and it's one Penn State won't have an answer for—like most teams the Badgers have played this season.

Unfortunately for Penn State, the team has nothing to fight for outside of the pride in avoiding a .500 record. Meanwhile, Wisconsin has something to prove in the polls and will be out to score as much as possible.

It all equates to a tough loss for Penn State on the road.

Final Score: Badgers 38, Nittany Lions 17
