BCS Poll 2013: Top 25 Standings for Week 15 Release

Patrick ClarkeJun 4, 2018

Auburn's magical come-from-behind win over Alabama in the Iron Bowl means that the two-time defending national champions no longer control their own destiny.

But there are still games to be played, and a slip-up from the teams at the top could open the door for Alabama to reenter the championship picture. With that in mind, let's take a look at the updated BCS landscape heading into the final week before bowl season:

The Crimson Tide were favored on the road at Auburn and had several opportunities to distance themselves on the scoreboard. But just when it seemed like Nick Saban and company were poised to clinch the SEC West and reach the SEC Championship Game for the fourth time in the past six seasons, the Tigers struck gold with a 39-yard game-tying touchdown pass with just over 30 seconds to play.

Moments later, it was Chris Davis returning Alabama's fourth missed field goal of the game 100-plus yards for the go-ahead touchdown as time expired.

Although the Tide's loss all but eliminates them from the national championship picture, they're still in the hunt for a potential Sugar Bowl bid.

Meanwhile, Auburn will battle Missouri in the conference title game on Saturday in Atlanta. The 11-1 Tigers wrapped up the SEC East Division by beating Johnny Football and Texas A&M in Columbia. If Gary Pinkel's surprising squad can end Auburn's eight-game winning streak in Week 15, they would have a strong case for No. 2.

As for the team currently holding down the top spot, Florida State beat Florida for the third time since 2010 on Saturday afternoon and will take on Duke in the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte this weekend. Jameis Winston and the 'Noles trounced the Gators in The Swamp and will now look to become the first team since Virginia Tech in 2008 to win back-to-back ACC championships.

Undefeated Ohio State, who survived a scare against Michigan at the Big House in Week 14, will gear up for its conference championship clash with Michigan State in Indianapolis. The Buckeyes knocked off the Wolverines in dramatic fashion to ensure their second consecutive 12-0 regular-season record under head coach Urban Meyer.

Winners of 24 straight games since the start of 2012, the Buckeyes are now in prime position to earn a title shot this coming January.

With the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC conference champions set to be crowned this coming weekend and so much at stake for the teams at the top, prepare for another wild weekend of college football.
