The Top 11 Most Important Recruiting Visits for Week 14

Edwin WeathersbyNov 27, 2013

Recruiting stops for no one and nothing, including Thanksgiving. So even though many people will be spending this weekend with their families, several programs will be hosting recruits for important visits.

This is a big week in college football, as many rivalry games are scheduled to take place. These are always fun games to attend for recruits, as atmospheres are even more spirited on campus and at the game than they are on other weekends.

The University of Florida has an impressive group of talent for its contest versus Florida State, while Missouri is going to try to get back in the race for a talented offensive tackle this weekend. Plus, Oregon is hosting a linebacker who is more open than many believe.

Player evaluations are based on reviews of tapes from Scout.comRivals247Sports and ESPNU.

Kiy Hester, S/ATH

1 of 6

Visiting: Michigan State

The Spartans are hosting Minnesota this weekend, but they will also need to show 4-star prospect Kiy Hester a good time. He's arriving just in time for the game on Saturday, says 247Sports.

At 6'0" and 200 pounds, the New Jersey native can play safety or receiver. Rutgers could be the team to beat, per 247Sports, but schools such Ohio State, Arkansas and Miami are also in the race.

If the Spartans want to keep pace for Hester, then they will need to impress him this weekend.

Jimmie Swain, OLB

2 of 6

Jimmie Swain is an athletic 4-star linebacker from Kansas who committed to Texas Christian University in August. However, he is visiting Oregon this weekend, according to 247Sports, so that shows his pledge isn't strong to the Horned Frogs.

The Ducks have a chance to use their fantastic atmosphere and facilities to charm Swain into flipping his commitment to them.

TCU has to be sweating bullets about this visit.

Jamil Kamara, ATH

3 of 6

Jamil Kamara has Virginia and Wisconsin among his top schools, says 247Sports. At 6'2" and 211 pounds, the 4-star Virginia native can play receiver, safety, running back or linebacker.

He'll be at Pitt starting Friday, says 247Sports. The Panthers are also one of Kamara's top schools, so this visit is crucial for head coach Paul Chryst.

Kamara would be the headliner for Chryst's class, but if things don't go well during this trip, he could lose Kamara to conference rival Virginia.

Brian Wallace, OT

4 of 6

If Missouri is going to get back in the race for 4-star offensive lineman Brian Wallace, then this is the weekend to make a move. The Tigers have a big game versus Texas A&M on Saturday, and Wallace will be visiting, says 247Sports

At 6'6" and 305 pounds, Wallace has the size and agility to dance with rushers as a left tackle. He also has the strength to open holes for running backs, which is why he's such a hot commodity on the recruiting trail.

If Missouri doesn't roll out the red carpet for the in-state recruit all weekend, then he could sign with Alabama or Iowa, per the experts at 247Sports.

The Seven Elite Uncommitted Recruits Visiting Florida

5 of 6

Florida is playing Florida State this weekend, as the Seminoles will come into Gainesville on a roll. The Gators have not had a great season, but spoiling the 'Noles' chances at a national title would be sweet for them.

Head coach Will Muschamp has seven great uncommitted prospects visiting for the game, according to 247Sports. Those recruits are:

  • 5-star linebacker Raekwon McMillan
  • 5-star cornerback Jalen Tabor
  • 4-star offensive tackle David Sharpe
  • 4-star linebacker Dwight Williams
  • 4-star defensive tackle Thomas Holley
  • 4-star linebacker Nyles Morgan
  • 4-star JUCO receiver Eric Lauderdale

All seven are excellent prospects who will be charmed throughout the entire weekend by the Gators. Florida doesn't have as much recruiting momentum coming into this weekend as it would like, but it still should be able to sign a few players among the bunch—should things go well this weekend.
