Premier League Table 2013 Week 13: Updated Standings After Sunday's Action

Matchday 12 won't be finished until West Brom faces Aston Villa on Monday, but the Premier League weekend slate is otherwise finished and has offered up plenty of storylines.

The best only got better on Saturday as league-leading Arsenal topped surging Southampton 2-0, but that was only the beginning of storylines continuing. 

During Sunday's Manchester double-header, which included a road test for United at Cardiff City and Manchester City facing Tottenham at home, we saw more trends keep their pace.

Sunday's Results 

Cardiff City 2-2 Manchester United

Manchester United's early-season struggles in their quest for title defense have been well-documented and brought up often. But they still entered this weekend with a chance to tie for second (!) in the league. 

In fact, they came within four minutes of it, entering stoppage time at Cardiff City up 2-1. But just one minute into the extra allotment of time, Kim Bo-Kyung struck to put his club in position for one point. 

Wayne Rooney—who was thought to have earned a red earlier in the match, via The Big Lead—had his chance in the final seconds with a two-on-none opportunity but failed to make the pass or put a shot on goal. 

There's no doubt that United still have a chance at coming back and thrusting themselves into title contention, but they can't afford many more results like this. David Moyes' crew is still within a few points of most of the leaders, but seeing how Arsenal are playing, they should be worried.

Manchester City 6-0 Tottenham

Manchester City have been absolutely red hot offensively at home in their recent fixtures, scoring 14 goals in their last three matches at Etihad Stadium. But that wasn't expected to continue against a talented Tottenham squad.

Then, Manuel Pellegrini's squad bettered that gaudy goals-per-game ratio at home with a 6-0 win, making it a jaw-dropping 20 goals in four matches. 

Suddenly, Spurs are slipping out of the picture at the top of the table. After seeing their name in the top four much of the early goings, Tottenham's 20 points are good for a tie for eighth. 

Satisfied to see both Southampton (who lost) and United (who drew) slip up this weekend, City slide into the top four with the lopsided victory.

The only question for Manchester City now is this: How do they continue the pace away from Etihad?
