D-III Running Back, Cartel Brooks Sets NCAA Record with Insane 465-Yard Game
Cartel Brooks just etched his name into the NCAA record books on Saturday as he set the record for most rushing yards in a game with 465, as detailed by Sports Illustrated.
The Division III star of the Heidelberg Student Princes set the mark on 38 carries and had three touchdowns, including one that went for 81 yards. Heidelberg also won the game 41-14 against Baldwin Wallace University.
Brooks' feat comes just three weeks after fellow Div. III running back Octavias McKoy of Western Connecticut set the record with 455 yards.

The 465-yard showing for Brooks came in Heidelberg's last game of the regular season. The performance gave him over 1,700 yards on the ground for the year, setting the school record for yards. According to the Heidelberg athletic department's twitter feed, Brooks is just 56 yards shy of rushing for a mile.
Heidelberg University is located in Tiffin, Ohio, which is in the northern part of the state. Some of the most famous alumni include Tennessee Titans wide receiver Michael Preston and ESPN SportsCenter anchor John Buccigross, who tweeted out support for his alma mater's running back.
Brooks is no stranger to the Div. III ranks. The junior was listed on Phil Steele's preseason 2013 Div. III All-American team.
While Brooks holds the NCAA record for rushing yards in a game, TCU's LaDainian Tomlinson holds the FBS record with 406 yards, set on Nov. 20, 1999.
